Day 1: Maun to Khwai — Afternoon Game Drive
Arrive Maun. Transfer 2.5 hours by 4×4 to Khwai village on the edge of the famous Khwai Concession. After settling into your comfortable guesthouse, embark on your first afternoon game drive. The Khwai area is renowned for easy predator sightings — lions, leopards, and African wild dogs are all resident. Return for dinner at the guesthouse. Overnight Khwai.
Day 2: Full Day Khwai Wildlife Exploration
Depart before sunrise with a packed breakfast for a full-day safari. Morning drive along the Khwai River — the lifeline of this ecosystem. Watch elephants crossing the river, hippos jostling for position in deep pools, and antelope species including red lechwe, tsessebe, and greater kudu. Visit the famous “hippo pool” for close-up viewing. Picnic lunch at a scenic riverbank spot. Afternoon game drive through mopane woodlands and open plains, searching for cheetah and the rare roan antelope. Return to guesthouse for dinner. Overnight Khwai.
Day 3: Moremi Game Reserve Day Trip
Full-day excursion into Moremi Game Reserve — the Okavango Delta’s wildlife crown jewel. Enter through the North Gate and explore the Khwai River floodplains inside the reserve. Visit Xakanaxa Lagoon and the famous Paradise Pools. Moremi’s predator density is among Africa’s highest — excellent chances for lion, leopard, and wild dog. The birding is spectacular: African fish eagles, saddle-billed storks, and malachite kingfishers. Picnic lunch in the reserve. Return to Khwai guesthouse. Overnight Khwai.
Day 4: Sunrise Game Drive & Departure
Final early morning game drive in Khwai — the golden hour when predators are returning from night hunts and the bush is most alive. Return to guesthouse for breakfast. Transfer to Maun Airport for departure.
