Cocos Keeling Dive & Snorkel: 7-Night Underwater Paradise Expedition

Day 1: Arrive in Paradise

Fly Perth to Cocos Keeling Islands. Transfer to accommodation. Afternoon: explore West Island, collect dive rental equipment, and attend the dive orientation. Evening at Trannies Beach watching the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Days 2-5: Four Days of World-Class Diving

Each day: two-tank boat dives with Cocos Dive, the island’s only operator. The dive sites are spectacular and varied:

Day 2 — The Drop-Offs: The outer reef walls plummet from 5m to 1,000m+. Dive sites like “The Morgue” and “Rip” feature grey reef sharks, white-tip reef sharks, eagle rays, and massive schools of trevally and barracuda. Visibility often exceeds 40m.

Day 3 — Drift Dives: The channels between the atoll islands create thrilling drift dives. “Direction Island Drift” takes you through a channel packed with coral, turtles, reef sharks, and enormous Napoleon wrasse. The current does the work — you just fly.

Day 4 — WWII Wrecks: Explore the wreck of a WWII Catalina flying boat and other remnants from the islands’ role as a strategic refueling base. These wrecks have become thriving artificial reefs, home to lionfish, moray eels, and schools of batfish.

Day 5 — Coral Gardens: The inner lagoon bommies are covered in pristine hard and soft corals. Macro heaven — pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, pipefish, and the incredibly rare leafy scorpionfish. Perfect for underwater photographers.

Surface intervals are spent on uninhabited islands with beach picnics.

Day 6: Snorkel & Explore

Rest day from diving. Snorkel the famous “Rip” at Direction Island — the drift snorkel through the channel with turtles, reef sharks, and endless fish. Afternoon: canoe safari through the southern lagoon islands. Evening: fresh seafood dinner.

Day 7: Free Day & Farewell

Final day to revisit favorite spots — another snorkel at Direction Island, a visit to Home Island for Cocos Malay culture, or simply relax on an empty beach. Farewell dinner at the Cocos Club — the social hub of the islands.

Day 8: Departure

Final morning swim. Transfer to airport. Fly back to Perth with logbook full and memories of diving Australia’s most remote paradise.
