Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Almaty — VIP Arrival
VIP arrival at Almaty International Airport. Private transfer to Renion Park Hotel (or similar 4-star). Afternoon gentle walking tour: Panfilov Park and the colorful Zenkov Cathedral. Welcome dinner at a family-friendly restaurant featuring Kazakh specialties adapted for all palates. Overnight in Almaty.
Day 2: Almaty Discovery — Cable Cars & Museums
Morning cable car to Kok-Tobe Hill for panoramic city views. Visit the Central State Museum — the Golden Man exhibit fascinates children and adults alike. Afternoon at the Green Bazaar: let the kids pick out dried fruits, nuts, and Kazakh sweets. Evening walk along the pedestrian Arbat street with its artists and musicians.
Day 3: Shymbulak & Medeu — Mountain Adventures
Cable car ascent to Medeu and Shymbulak (2,260m). Family-friendly hiking in summer, skiing in winter. Picnic lunch with mountain views. Afternoon: visit the Falcon Farm to see golden eagles and other birds of prey up close, with a flying demonstration. Overnight in Almaty.
Day 4: Altyn Emel National Park — The Singing Dunes
Drive to Altyn Emel National Park, a vast protected area of desert, mountains, and unique geological features. Visit the Singing Dunes — a 3km-long, 150m-high sand dune that produces a haunting organ-like sound when the sand slides. Climb the dune (an adventure for kids!) and slide down. Continue to the Aktau Mountains — white, red, and yellow chalk hills that look like a Martian landscape. Overnight in a guesthouse near the park.
Day 5: Charyn Canyon — The Valley of Castles
Drive to Charyn Canyon National Park. Family hike through the Valley of Castles — easy trail, incredible scenery. Descend to the Charyn River for a picnic. Let imaginations run wild naming the rock formations. Continue to Saty village for the night. Home-cooked Kazakh dinner in a guesthouse.
Day 6: Kolsai & Kaindy Lakes — The Blue Lakes
Morning trek to Lower Kolsai Lake — a gentle 1-hour walk to the emerald lake. Then to Kaindy Lake, the sunken forest. Kids love the surreal sight of tree trunks rising from turquoise water. Optional horseback ride around Kaindy. Return to Almaty in the evening. Overnight at Chunja Hot Spring resort — soak in natural thermal pools (40 volcanic hot springs).
Day 7: Chunja Hot Springs & Return to Almaty
