Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Tbilisi — Explore & Wine

Airport transfer. Afternoon Tbilisi Old Town tour: Narikala Fortress, sulfur baths, Sameba Cathedral. Evening: wine bar introduction to Georgian wine — the 8,000-year qvevri tradition (clay vessels buried underground for fermentation), amber wines, and 500+ indigenous grape varieties. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Sighnaghi — The City of Love

Drive to Kakheti, Georgia’s premier wine region. Arrive in Sighnaghi, “the City of Love” — a beautifully restored 18th-century hilltop town with red-tiled roofs, cobblestone streets, and panoramic views over the Alazani Valley to the snow-capped Caucasus. Visit the Sighnaghi Museum and the 5km defensive wall. Wine tasting at Pheasant’s Tears, a pioneering natural winery reviving traditional Georgian methods. Overnight in Sighnaghi.

Day 3: Bodbe & Kvareli Wine Route

Visit Bodbe Monastery — the final resting place of St. Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. The monastery’s gardens and views over the Alazani Valley are sublime. Continue to Kvareli: visit Kindzmarauli Corporation wine cellar (famous semi-sweet red), Gremi architectural complex (16th-century royal citadel and church), and the Khareba Winery with its 7.7km tunnel carved into the Caucasus foothills. Overnight in Telavi.

Day 4: Telavi — Alaverdi — Tsinandali

Visit Telavi’s farmer’s market. Drive to Alaverdi Monastery (11th century) with its soaring cathedral — the second-tallest religious building in Georgia — surrounded by vineyards producing wine since the 8th century. Visit the Tsinandali Estate, home of the 19th-century poet-prince Alexander Chavchavadze — Georgia’s first European-style winery (1841), with beautiful gardens and a museum. Lunch and tasting on the estate. Return to Tbilisi. Farewell supra. Overnight in Tbilisi.
