Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Nuuk
Welcome to Greenland’s capital. Transfer to Hotel Hans Egede. Afternoon city walk: colonial harbor, Nuuk Cathedral (1849), and the iconic Mother of the Sea statue. Evening briefing with your expedition guide. Overnight in Nuuk.
Day 2: Nuuk to Kapisillit — The Fjord Journey
Boat journey through the magnificent Nuuk Fjord system to Kapisillit, a settlement of just 80 people at the head of the fjord. The 4-hour boat ride takes you past vertical cliffs, waterfalls plunging directly into the sea, and an ever-changing parade of icebergs. Arrive in Kapisillit and meet the local community. Overnight in Kapisillit guesthouse.
Day 3-4: Kangersuneq Icefjord Trek
Two days trekking along the Kangersuneq Icefjord. Camp on the shores of the fjord surrounded by kilometer-high peaks. The icefjord is a river of ice — hundreds of icebergs of every shade of blue, white, and turquoise drift past your campsite. On Day 4, summit the Massif Niggu for an unforgettable panorama: 360 degrees of ice, rock, and water stretching to the horizon. Overnight in tents at the fjord’s edge.
Day 5: Qajartoriarsuaq — The Hidden Norse Baths
Trek to the hidden lake of Qajartoriarsuaq, where natural hot springs — known from Norse times — create a warm bathing spot in the middle of the Arctic wilderness. Soak in the naturally heated water as icebergs drift past in the fjord below. Try your hand at catching Arctic char in the streams (traditional fishing methods demonstrated by your guide). Overnight in tents.
Day 6: Return to Nuuk
Trek back to Kapisillit. Farewell to the village community. Boat journey back to Nuuk — your last chance to photograph the fjord’s epic scenery. Hot shower, celebration dinner at a Nuuk restaurant. Overnight in Nuuk.
Day 7: Depart Nuuk
Morning visit to the Katuaq Cultural Centre for Greenlandic art. Transfer to airport.
