Day 1-2: Vancouver — Pacific Paradise

• Day 1: Arrive Vancouver — consistently ranked among the world’s most livable cities, set between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains. Afternoon: Stanley Park (405-hectare urban park, larger than New York’s Central Park) — the seawall (10km walking/cycling path along the water), totem poles at Brockton Point (some of the most visited in British Columbia, representing First Nations art — Coast Salish, Haida, Kwakwaka’wakw traditions), and views of the Lions Gate Bridge and North Shore mountains. Visit Granville Island — a vibrant public market, artisan studios, and waterfront restaurants
• Day 2: Morning Capilano Suspension Bridge Park — 137m long, 70m above the Capilano River. The bridge sways as you cross through temperate rainforest — Douglas firs, western red cedars, and hemlocks, dripping with moss in Vancouver’s misty climate. The Treetops Adventure (suspension bridges between old-growth trees) provides a squirrel’s-eye view. Afternoon Grouse Mountain — the Skyride gondola to the Peak of Vancouver, with panoramic views of the city, ocean, and Mount Baker in Washington State. Day 3: Vancouver to Whistler — Sea to Sky Highway

• Drive the Sea to Sky Highway (Highway 99) — one of the world’s greatest coastal drives, hugging the cliffs of Howe Sound with the ocean on one side and the Coast Mountains on the other. Stop at Shannon Falls (335m, British Columbia’s third-highest waterfall) and the Sea to Sky Gondola — the views from the summit lodge encompass the fjord-like Howe Sound and the Stawamus Chief, a massive granite monolith popular with rock climbers
• Arrive in Whistler — co-host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, consistently voted the #1 ski resort in North America. Summer transforms Whistler into a mountain biking and hiking paradise. Take the Peak 2 Peak Gondola — the world’s highest and longest unsupported cable car span (3.024km between towers, 436m above the valley floor), connecting Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. The views from the gondola and the mountaintop hiking trails are extraordinary

Day 4: Whistler to Sun Peaks — Interior BC

• Drive through the British Columbia Interior — ranchlands, rolling hills, and the transition from coastal rainforest to drier interior plateau. Arrive at Sun Peaks Resort — Canada’s second-largest ski area, a charming alpine village nestled in the mountains. Afternoon hike through wildflower meadows, mountain biking, or simply relaxing in the alpine setting. The contrast between coastal Whistler and interior Sun Peaks — both world-class resorts, but with very different personalities — illustrates British Columbia’s geographic diversity

Day 5: Sun Peaks to Jasper — Crossing the Continental Divide

• Drive the Yellowhead Highway east through the Robson Valley. The highlight: Mount Robson (3,954m) — the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The mountain creates its own weather — it’s often shrouded in cloud while the surrounding peaks are clear. When visible, the sheer face rising 3,000m from the valley floor is one of the most dramatic sights in the Rockies. Stop at the Mount Robson Visitor Centre for the classic view
• Cross into Alberta and Jasper National Park. The transition from British Columbia to Alberta is marked by the continental divide — water flowing west goes to the Pacific, water flowing east goes to the Arctic or Hudson Bay. Arrival in Jasper — wild, untamed, the largest park in the Canadian Rockies

Day 6: Jasper — Maligne Lake & Wildlife

• Maligne Lake cruise to Spirit Island (the iconic Canadian Rockies photograph), Maligne Canyon walk (narrow limestone gorge, bridges over the chasm), Medicine Lake (a “disappearing lake” that drains through an underground karst system each autumn, leaving a mudflat — one of the largest underground drainage systems in the world). Evening wildlife watch — elk, bears, and moose are common in Jasper’s valleys

Day 7: Icefields Parkway — Glaciers & Waterfalls

• Full day on the Icefields Parkway southbound. Athabasca Falls, Sunwapta Falls, Columbia Icefield (Ice Explorer onto Athabasca Glacier), Peyto Lake (the wolf-head turquoise lake), Bow Lake. The parkway under the afternoon sun — glaciers glinting, peaks reflected in lakes, bighorn sheep on the roadside — is one of Earth’s great travel experiences

Day 8: Lake Louise & Banff

• Lake Louise sunrise (the lake at first light is worth the early alarm), Lake Agnes Teahouse hike, Moraine Lake (Valley of the Ten Peaks). Afternoon transfer to Banff: Sulphur Mountain Gondola, Upper Hot Springs, Banff Avenue exploration. Banff has the liveliest mountain town atmosphere in the Rockies — a perfect final destination

Day 9: Banff to Calgary — Foothills & Farewell

• Final Rocky Mountain morning — optional horseback ride in the Bow Valley (experienced wranglers, no experience necessary, riding through aspen forests and alpine meadows). Afternoon drive to Calgary. Farewell dinner at a classic Alberta steakhouse

Day 10: Departure
