Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Minsk
Airport transfer. Afternoon: explore Independence Avenue’s monumental Stalinist architecture — KGB HQ, Palace of the Republic, Victory Square. Evening: dinner at Kuhmistr, Minsk’s premier traditional restaurant. Overnight in Minsk.
Day 2: Minsk — Soviet Icons & Alternative Culture
Morning: Great Patriotic War Museum. Afternoon: visit sculptor Ozgur’s studio (by appointment), explore the Oktyabrskaya street art district, and walk through Trinity Suburb. Visit the Lee Harvey Oswald apartment building. Evening: dinner at Tovarisch (“Comrade”) Soviet-themed restaurant. Overnight in Minsk.
Day 3: Brest Fortress
Morning train to Brest. Afternoon: explore the Hero Fortress — Kholm Gate, Courage Monument, the defensive barracks ruins, and the comprehensive museum. Evening: Sovetskaya Street with its costumed gas-lamp lighters. Overnight in Brest.
Day 4: Belovezhskaya Pushcha & Return to Minsk
Morning: visit Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park — Europe’s last primeval forest, European bison, 600-year-old oaks, and the Viskuli dacha where the USSR was dissolved. Afternoon train back to Minsk. Overnight in Minsk.
Day 5: Castles of Belarus — Mir & Nesvizh
Full-day excursion: Mir Castle (16th-century Gothic-Renaissance fortress, UNESCO) and Nesvizh Palace (Radziwill family estate, Italianate palace, UNESCO). Visit the Corpus Christi Church with its noble family crypt. Return to Minsk. Overnight in Minsk.
Day 6: Departure
Morning: Komarovsky Market for last-minute Belarusian souvenirs. Transfer to airport.
