Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive & Orientation
Arrival, car pickup, and orientation. Afternoon check dive at Snake Gully — named not for danger but for the friendly katuali sea snakes that are Niue’s unofficial mascots. Overnight at accommodation.
Day 2: The Cathedral Caves
Two-tank morning dive: explore Niue’s famous underwater caves and caverns. The “Cathedral” — a massive underwater cavern with air pockets where you can surface inside and remove your regulator, the ceiling rising 20m above, stalactites dripping into the saltwater pool. Second dive at “The Chimney,” a vertical swim-through that exits onto a pristine reef wall. Afternoon: snorkel at Limu Pools.
Day 3: In-Water Whales (Seasonal Jul-Oct)
Full-day whale swim expedition. Two 3-hour sessions with a certified whale-swim operator. Snorkel alongside humpback whales and their newborn calves in Niue’s crystal-clear waters. Off-season: two additional boat dives at outer reef sites. Overnight at accommodation.
Day 4: Eastern Reef & Togo Chasm
Morning dive at the outer reef on Niue’s wild eastern coast. Afternoon: hike to Togo Chasm for the hidden palm beach. Overnight at accommodation.
Day 5: Niue Ocean Swim Week (September) or Deep Reef Diving
September: participate in the annual Niue Ocean Swim Week events. Other months: boat dives at the Beveridge Reef site — an isolated coral atoll with pelagic encounters. Overnight at accommodation.
Day 6: Shore Diving & Exploration
Morning shore dives and snorkeling at various Niue “chasm” sites. Afternoon free exploration of the island. Farewell dinner at Washaway Café. Overnight at accommodation.
Day 7: Departure
Morning at leisure (24-hour pre-flight no-dive rule). Transfer to airport.
