Day 1: Arrive Caracas — Venezuela’s Vibrant Capital

Arrive at Simón Bolívar International Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Caracas, nestled in a valley between the Ávila Mountain and the Caribbean. Afternoon orientation: visit the birthplace of Simón Bolívar (The Liberator), the National Pantheon with Bolívar’s tomb, and the historic center. Welcome dinner of pabellón criollo (shredded beef, black beans, rice, and fried plantains — Venezuela’s national dish). Overnight in Caracas.

Day 2: Canaima National Park — Gateway to the Lost World

Early morning flight from Caracas to Canaima National Park (UNESCO, 30,000 km²). The flight gives spectacular views of kilometer-high tepuis (tabletop mountains) — the inspiration for Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Lost World.” Arrive at Canaima Lagoon, a stunning setting of pink-sand beaches and seven waterfalls. Afternoon: boat trip to Canaima Lagoon’s waterfalls. Hike behind Sapo Falls — the curtain of water thunders inches in front of your face as you walk along a ledge behind the cascade. Visit Hacha Falls, powerful enough you can only view from the boat. Overnight at lodge in Canaima village.

Day 3: Angel Falls — Journey to the World’s Tallest

Morning motorized canoe journey up the Carrao and Churún Rivers (4-5 hours). This is an adventure in itself: navigating rapids, watching for the wildlife along the riverbanks (toucans, macaws, howler monkeys), and taking in the ever-changing tepui landscape. Afternoon arrival at the base camp with the first view of Angel Falls — 979 meters (3,212 ft) of water falling from the summit of Auyán-tepui. The water begins its fall so far up that much of it vaporizes into mist before reaching the ground. Overnight in hammocks at the base camp, falling asleep to the sound of the tallest waterfall on Earth.

Day 4: Angel Falls Base — Hike & Swim

Morning hike through the jungle to the base of Angel Falls (about 1.5 hours). First stop: Mirador Salto Ángel, the classic viewpoint where the full height of the waterfall is revealed in all its glory — an almost impossible scale, nearly 20 times the height of Niagara Falls. Continue to the pool at the base. Brave the powerful mist and cold water to swim in the natural pool beneath the world’s tallest waterfall — a bucket-list achievement. Afternoon return to camp by boat, with a stop at a traditional Pemón village. Overnight at lodge in Canaima.

Day 5: Canaima Exploration & Return to Caracas

Morning exploration of Canaima: hike to additional viewpoints of the lagoon, visit the Pemón community, and browse local crafts. Afternoon flight back to Caracas. Evening: farewell dinner in the Las Mercedes district. Overnight in Caracas.

Day 6: Caracas & Depart

Morning: ride the Ávila cable car (Teleférico de Caracas) — in just 20 minutes you ascend from the tropical city to the top of El Ávila mountain (2,100m) with panoramic views of Caracas on one side and the Caribbean coastline on the other. Transfer to airport.
