Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive St. Vincent — Gateway to the Grenadines
Arrive at Argyle International Airport. Transfer to your hotel near Kingstown. Afternoon exploration of Kingstown’s historic sites: St. George’s Cathedral, the Botanic Gardens (the oldest in the Western Hemisphere, est. 1765), and Fort Charlotte with its panoramic harbor views. Overnight near Kingstown.
Day 2: La Soufrière Volcano Hike
Full-day guided hike to the summit of La Soufrière (4,049 ft / 1,234m), St. Vincent’s active volcano that most recently erupted in 2021. The trail climbs through tropical rainforest, montane forest, and finally the dramatic volcanic landscape at the summit. Peer into the crater and enjoy 360-degree views of the entire island chain. A challenging 6-8 hour round trip that rewards with one of the Caribbean’s most dramatic landscapes. Overnight near Kingstown.
Day 3: Dark View Falls & Windward Coast
Morning visit to Dark View Falls — twin waterfalls cascading 100 feet into natural pools. Cross the bamboo bridge and swim in the cool mountain water. Afternoon: drive the scenic Windward Highway along the dramatic Atlantic coast through traditional fishing villages. Visit the Owia Salt Pond, a natural rock pool filled with seawater and shaped like a giant bathtub by volcanic activity. Overnight near Kingstown.
Day 4: Bequia — The Big Little Island
Morning ferry to Bequia, the largest of the Grenadines. Explore Port Elizabeth’s harbor front lined with pastel-colored buildings. Visit the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary, where a dedicated naturalist has been protecting hawksbill turtles for decades. Afternoon at Princess Margaret Beach and Lower Bay — consistently ranked among the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches. Snorkeling off the beach. Overnight in Bequia.
Day 5: Bequia Sailing & Whale Watching
Full-day sailing around Bequia aboard a traditional wooden schooner. Visit the Moonhole, a unique community of homes built into natural rock formations. Snorkeling at Devil’s Table, a dramatic rock formation rising from the sea. The waters between St. Vincent and Bequia are prime whale-watching territory — look for humpbacks and pilot whales. Beach barbecue on a deserted cay. Overnight in Bequia.
Day 6: Mustique — The Exclusive Island
Day trip to Mustique, the private island playground of royalty and celebrities. Tour the island by “mule” (open-sided electric vehicles). Visit Basil’s Bar, the legendary beach bar, for lunch with your feet in the sand. Snorkel at Macaroni Bay and admire the multi-million dollar villas from the water. Afternoon tea at the Cotton House. Return to Bequia. Overnight in Bequia.
Day 7: Tobago Cays — The Crown Jewel
Full-day boat excursion to the Tobago Cays Marine Park — five uninhabited cays surrounded by a horseshoe reef and the most impossibly turquoise water in the Caribbean. This is what you imagine when you dream of paradise. Snorkel with green sea turtles that are so abundant they brush past you within arm’s reach. Walk on pristine white sand beaches. Beach barbecue with freshly grilled lobster. The Tobago Cays are the crown jewel of the Grenadines. Return to Bequia. Overnight in Bequia.
Day 8: Canouan & Mayreau
Island-hopping day: morning on Canouan, home to one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive resorts (Mandarin Oriental and Soho Beach House). Visit the charming local village of Charlestown. Afternoon on Mayreau, the smallest inhabited island in the Grenadines with just 300 residents and no airport. Walk up to the hilltop church for a view that stretches across the entire Tobago Cays. Salt Whistle Bay — a perfect crescent of palm-fringed sand consistently ranked among the world’s best beaches. Return to Bequia by sunset. Overnight in Bequia.
Day 9: Return to St. Vincent & Buccament Bay
Morning ferry back to St. Vincent. Afternoon at Buccament Bay, the island’s best black sand beach on the leeward coast. Visit the Wallilabou Bay — film location for Pirates of the Caribbean (the Port Royal set still stands, now weathered and atmospheric). Farewell dinner of Vincentian cuisine: roasted breadfruit and jackfish, callaloo soup, and coconut dessert. Overnight near Kingstown.
Day 10: Depart St. Vincent
Morning visit to the Kingstown Market — the liveliest in the Caribbean with fresh spices, fruits, and local crafts. Transfer to airport.
