Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Kosrae — The Sleeping Lady
Arrive at Kosrae International Airport. Kosrae is FSM’s most pristine island — one road circles the entire island through lush tropical forest. Transfer to your eco-resort. Welcome and briefing. Afternoon: snorkeling in the lagoon right off the resort — Kosrae’s reef is among the healthiest in Micronesia with 175 species of hard coral. Overnight in Kosrae.
Day 2: Kosrae Reef Diving — Pristine Pacific
Two-tank dive day on Kosrae’s untouched reefs. Walung Drop-off: a sheer wall from 30 to 1,000+ feet covered in sea fans and black coral. Blue Hole: a vertical shaft through the reef with a cavern at 90 feet. Non-divers can snorkel the shallows where the coral garden starts in just 3 feet of water. Overnight in Kosrae.
Day 3: Kosrae Interior — Mangrove Kayaking & Lelu Ruins
Morning kayaking through Kosrae’s pristine mangrove forest — one of the largest undisturbed mangrove ecosystems in the Pacific. Paddle through tunnels of mangrove canopy, spotting herons, fruit bats, and mudskippers. Afternoon: visit the Lelu ruins, a massive basalt walled city built on an artificial island around 1400 AD — comparable to Nan Madol but less visited. Hike to the summit of Mt. Finkol (optional, challenging). Overnight in Kosrae.
Day 4: Kosrae Waterfall & Cultural Day
Morning hike through the jungle to the stunning Kosrae waterfalls. Afternoon: visit a traditional village. Learn about Kosraean weaving and meet local families. Evening: traditional feast with um (earth oven) cooking. Overnight in Kosrae.
Day 5: Fly to Pohnpei
Morning flight to Pohnpei (1 hour). Afternoon: orientation tour of Kolonia and check-in. Evening: sakau ceremony. Overnight in Pohnpei.
Day 6: Nan Madol & Manta Road
Morning guided tour of Nan Madol — the legendary stone city. Afternoon: snorkeling at Manta Road in the lagoon, where mantas sometimes cruise in just 15 feet of water. Overnight in Pohnpei.
Day 7: Pohnpei Rainforest & Pehleng Waterfall
Full day in Pohnpei’s rainforest. Hike to Pehleng Waterfall through pristine jungle. Afternoon: visit Palikir, the FSM capital, and the Japanese agricultural station ruins. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Pohnpei.
Day 8: Depart Pohnpei
Morning at the Pohnpei market for handicrafts. Transfer to airport.
