Day 2: Bridgetown & Historic Garrison — UNESCO Heritage
Full day exploring Barbados’ UNESCO-listed capital. Morning: walking tour of Historic Bridgetown — Parliament Buildings (the third oldest in the Commonwealth), the Chamberlain Bridge, and the careenage (inner harbor). Visit the Nidhe Israel Synagogue, one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere (built 1654), and its recently uncovered mikvah. Afternoon: tour the Garrison Historic Area — George Washington House (where the future US president stayed in 1751), the Barbados Museum, and Garrison Savannah racetrack. Overnight near Holetown.
Day 3: Harrison’s Cave & East Coast — Natural Wonders
Morning at Harrison’s Cave — ride a tram through crystallized limestone caverns with stalactites, stalagmites, and underground waterfalls. Afternoon drive to Barbados’ wild Atlantic east coast. Visit Bathsheba Beach with its massive rock formations carved by the relentless Atlantic. Photo stop at the famous Bathsheba mushroom rocks. Visit St. John’s Parish Church with its spectacular cliff-top location and cemetery where the last planter (Ferdinand Paleologus, descendant of Byzantine emperors!) is buried. Overnight near Holetown.
Day 4: Rum & Sugar Heritage
Morning at Mount Gay Rum Distillery, the world’s oldest commercial rum distillery (est. 1703) — guided tour and tasting. Afternoon at St. Nicholas Abbey, a Jacobean plantation house and one of only three surviving 17th-century mansions in the Western hemisphere. Tour the rum distillery and taste their exceptional small-batch rum. Drive through the lush Scotland District — Barbados’ most dramatic landscape. Overnight near Holetown.
Day 5: Catamaran Cruise & Snorkeling
Full-day luxury catamaran cruise along the protected west coast. Swim with wild sea turtles at a turtle feeding ground. Snorkel over two shipwrecks in Carlisle Bay — crystal clear water reveals cannons, anchors, and abundant tropical fish. Beach barbecue lunch on board. Afternoon stop at Sandy Lane Beach — one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive stretches of sand. Overnight near Holetown.
Day 6: Oistins Fish Fry & South Coast
Morning at leisure on the beach. Afternoon visit to the south coast — Miami Beach (not that one!) and the lively Boardwalk from Hastings to Rockley. Evening at Oistins Fish Fry, the legendary Friday night street party (operates nightly for tourists). Fresh grilled flying fish, macaroni pie, and a Banks beer while local DJs spin calypso and soca. This is the real Barbados. Overnight near Holetown.
Day 7: Depart Barbados
Morning visit to Earthworks Pottery for authentic Bajan ceramics. Transfer to airport.
