Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Montevideo
Welcome at Carrasco Airport and transfer to hotel. Evening stroll along the Rambla, Uruguay’s beloved waterfront promenade. Meet your guide and fellow travelers at a welcome dinner. Overnight in Montevideo.
Day 2: Montevideo — The Southern Capital
Comprehensive city tour: Independence Square with the Artigas Mausoleum, Salvo Palace, the Old City, Port Market for lunch (not included). Afternoon visit to the Gaucho Museum, Prado Rose Garden, and the Centenario Stadium museum. Evening free to explore Montevideo’s craft beer scene. Overnight in Montevideo.
Day 3: Wine Country & Gaucho Culture
Morning visit to two boutique wineries in Canelones. Lunch at a traditional estancia (ranch) where you’ll experience authentic gaucho life — horseback riding demonstration, traditional asado, and mate ceremony. Afternoon return to Montevideo. Overnight in Montevideo.
Day 4: Costa de Oro
Travel east along the Gold Coast to Atlantida and Piriapolis. Visit the Castle of Piria, enjoy the beaches, and take the chairlift to San Antonio Hill for panoramic views. Continue to Punta del Este for a sunset walk. Overnight in Punta del Este.
Day 5: Punta del Este & Jose Ignacio
Morning at Playa Mansa, Punta’s calm beach. Visit the lighthouse and the iconic hand sculpture. Afternoon drive to Jose Ignacio, the ultra-chic fishing village turned celebrity hideaway. Lighthouse views and pristine beaches. Dinner at a beachfront restaurant. Overnight in Punta del Este.
Day 6: Rocha — Cabo Polonio (Optional)
Journey to Uruguay’s wild Atlantic coast. Visit La Paloma, then take a 4×4 truck across sand dunes to Cabo Polonio — a remote village with no electricity, powered by solar panels. See the iconic lighthouse and one of South America’s largest sea lion colonies. Return to Punta del Este.
Day 7: Colonia del Sacramento
Travel across the country to Colonia. Full day immersed in this UNESCO-listed time capsule. Walk the cobblestones of the historic quarter, climb the lighthouse, visit the Portuguese and Spanish museums, and enjoy river views. Sunset from the Bastion. Overnight in Colonia.
Day 8: Carmelo & Return to Montevideo
Morning in Carmelo — visit Narbona Winery. Lunch at a rustic restaurant. Afternoon return to Montevideo via Route 21, passing traditional estancias. Farewell dinner at a top restaurant in Montevideo’s trendy Pocitos neighborhood.
Day 9: Depart Montevideo
Morning at the Feria de Tristan Narvaja (Sunday market) or visit the Botanical Garden. Transfer to airport. Safe journey home!
