Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Tbilisi

Welcome to Georgia! Airport transfer to your hotel. Evening walking tour of Tbilisi Old Town: the iconic sulfur bath district (Abanotubani), the cascading waterfall in the city center, and the modern Peace Bridge over the Mtkvari River. Funicular ride to Narikala Fortress for sunset views. Welcome dinner with Georgian wine. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Mtskheta — Ancient Capital

Visit Mtskheta, Georgia’s spiritual heart and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tour the 11th-century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, where Christ’s robe is said to be buried. Explore Jvari Monastery perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Afternoon wine tasting in a traditional marani (wine cellar). Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3: Georgian Military Highway — Kazbegi

Drive the legendary Georgian Military Highway north into the Caucasus Mountains. Stop at Ananuri Fortress complex overlooking the Zhinvali Reservoir. Cross the Jvari Pass (2,395m) at the Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument with stunning mountain panoramas. Arrive in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) and hike or 4×4 to Gergeti Trinity Church at 2,170m, with Mount Kazbek (5,047m) towering behind. Overnight in Kazbegi.

Day 4: Kakheti Wine Region — Sighnaghi

Descend to the Alazani Valley, Georgia’s premier wine region. Visit Sighnaghi, the “City of Love” — a beautifully restored hilltop town with 4km of defensive walls and breathtaking views of the Caucasus. Tour a family winery: see qvevri (clay vessels buried underground) and taste amber wines made with 8,000-year-old methods. Masterclass in making khinkali (Georgian dumplings). Overnight in Sighnaghi.

Day 5: Bodbe Monastery & Depart Tbilisi

Visit Bodbe Monastery, the final resting place of St. Nino who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. Return to Tbilisi. Last stroll through Dry Bridge flea market for Soviet memorabilia. Transfer to Tbilisi Airport. Safe travels!
