Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Quito
Airport transfer and overnight in Ecuador’s historic capital (2,850m above sea level).
Day 2: Quito Colonial Center
Full day exploring Quito’s UNESCO-listed colonial center — San Francisco Church, La Compania de Jesus (the “golden church”), Independence Plaza, and the Panecillo viewpoint with its winged Virgin statue overlooking the city. Afternoon visit to the Middle of the World monument on the Equator.
Day 3: Otavalo Indigenous Market
Drive north through the Avenue of Volcanoes to Otavalo, home to South America’s largest indigenous market. Explore colorful textiles, handicrafts, and traditional Andean culture. Visit Cotacachi (leather town) and Cuicocha crater lake.
Day 4: Papallacta & Amazon
Morning soak at Papallacta Hot Springs. Descend into the Amazon basin to Punta Ahuano jungle lodge on the Napo River. Afternoon canoe ride and rainforest orientation walk.
Day 5-6: Amazon Rainforest
Two full days immersed in the Amazon: canoe rides through tributaries, jungle treks to spot monkeys, toucans, and macaws, visits to indigenous Quichua communities, night walks, and river swimming.
Day 7: Banos — The Adventure Capital
Return from the Amazon. Drive to Banos, Ecuador’s adventure capital nestled at the foot of Tungurahua volcano. Visit the famous “Swing at the End of the World” at Casa del Arbol. Explore the waterfall route (Ruta de las Cascadas) including Pailon del Diablo. Optional: canyoning, rafting, or biking.
Day 8: Return Quito & Depart
Scenic drive back to Quito. Depart Ecuador with unforgettable memories.
