Day 1: Arrive Bahrain — Pearl of the Gulf

• Arrive at Bahrain International Airport (BAH). Pick-up and transfer to hotel. Day 2: Bahrain — Pearls, Forts & Ancient History

• Morning exploration of Manama: walk through the Muharraq historical district — a beautifully restored area that was the center of Bahrain’s pearling industry. The Pearling Trail (UNESCO World Heritage) is a 3.5 km pathway connecting 17 historic buildings, oyster beds, and the seashore — the last complete example of the cultural tradition of pearling in the Gulf
• Visit Beit Al Quran (House of Quran) — a museum housing one of the world’s most significant collections of Quranic manuscripts, including a tiny 8th-century Kufic script Quran, the first Quran printed in Germany (1694), and manuscripts from as far as China and Spain
• Explore the Bahrain National Museum — the country’s premier cultural institution, tracing Bahrain’s 6,000-year history through artifacts from Dilmun burial mounds (there are over 170,000 of them — the largest prehistoric cemetery in the world), Islamic-era ceramics, and traditional lifeways
• Visit the magnificent Al-Fateh Grand Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world (capacity 7,000), with a 70-ton fiberglass dome (the world’s largest) and a floor made of Italian marble. Guided tours explain Islamic culture and traditions
• Afternoon at Qalat Al Bahrain (Bahrain Fort, UNESCO) — a magnificent seaside fortress with layers of civilization dating back to 2300 BC. The current structure was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, but excavations have revealed six distinct cities beneath it, making it one of the most important archaeological sites in the Arabian Gulf
• Drive past Bahrain’s first oil well (discovered 1932) to the Tree of Life — a 400-year-old mesquite tree standing alone in the desert, kilometers from any water source, a symbol of Bahrain’s resilience and a popular local mystery
• Evening walk through the Manama Souk and Little India — a vibrant quarter with Krishna temples, Indian sweet shops, and the scent of spices, reflecting Bahrain’s long history as a trading crossroads

Day 3: Bahrain → Doha, Qatar

• Morning free in Manama — shop for pearls (Bahraini natural pearls are legendary), visit the modern Bahrain Financial Harbour area, or relax at the hotel
• Afternoon flight (included) to Doha, Qatar. Transfer to hotel. Qatar — a peninsula nation that transformed from a pearl-diving backwater into the world’s richest country per capita in just two generations, while hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup — is a study in controlled, ambitious growth
• Evening at leisure — consider walking along the Doha Corniche, the 7 km crescent-shaped promenade curving around Doha Bay, offering one of the most stunning city skyline views anywhere

Day 4: Doha — Tradition Meets Tomorrow

• Drive along the Corniche viewing Doha’s futuristic skyline. Pass Al Thumama Stadium — one of the stunning World Cup 2022 venues, its design inspired by the traditional gahfiya (woven cap) worn by men across the Arab world
• Visit the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) — I.M. Pei’s final masterpiece (opened 2008, when Pei was 91). Sitting on its own island, the museum’s geometric limestone exterior changes color with the sun. Inside: one of the world’s most comprehensive collections of Islamic art spanning 1,400 years and three continents, including illustrated manuscripts, ceramics, metalwork, glass, textiles, and jewelry
• Explore Souq Waqif — the “standing market,” a labyrinth of alleyways that has been Doha’s trading hub for centuries. Although rebuilt after a 2003 fire, it retains its 19th-century character: mud-rendered buildings, exposed timber beams, and distinct sections for spices, perfumes, textiles, falcons, and handicrafts. The Falcon Souq is particularly fascinating — dedicated entirely to falcons, with a falcon hospital where birds get passports for international travel (yes, falcons fly business class on Qatar Airways)
• Lunch at The Pearl-Qatar — an artificial island spanning 4 million sq m. Visit Porto Arabia (a marina with 784 berths, surrounded by Mediterranean-style architecture) and Qanat Quartier (inspired by Venice, with canals and colorful buildings, including a replica Rialto Bridge). The Pearl was built on a former pearl-diving site — a fitting tribute to Qatar’s heritage
• Evening at Katara Cultural Village — a sprawling cultural complex with an amphitheater (inspired by classical Greek design but with Islamic geometric motifs), opera house, art galleries, and a stunning mosque with turquoise and gold mosaic tiles. Day 5: Doha → Dubai

• Morning flight (included) to Dubai, UAE. Transfer to hotel
• Evening: head to Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa area. Watch the Dubai Fountain show — water jets choreographed to music, shooting 150m into the air against the illuminated backdrop of the world’s tallest tower. The 828m Burj Khalifa — built in just 6 years and requiring 22 million man-hours — is a monument to what’s possible when vision, money, and ambition converge

Day 6: Dubai — Old & New

• Morning at the Dubai Frame — an enormous 150m-tall golden picture frame structure in Zabeel Park. A glass-floored bridge at the top (the floor goes transparent when you step on it — thrilling!) provides a unique perspective: Old Dubai to the north, Modern Dubai to the south. It’s literally a frame that captures the city’s past, present, and future
• Cross to Old Dubai: walk through the Bur Dubai Souk and Spice Souk, then board an abra (traditional wooden boat) to cross Dubai Creek to the Al Fahidi historical neighborhood. Visit the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (“Open Doors, Open Minds”) for a cultural Q&A and traditional Emirati refreshments
• Afternoon drive past Jumeirah Mosque (the only mosque in Dubai open to non-Muslim visitors) and the iconic Burj Al Arab (the sail-shaped hotel on its own island). Day 7: Abu Dhabi — Capital Grandeur
