Day 1-2: Islamabad to Fairy Meadows — At the Foot of the Killer Mountain
- Drive the Karakoram Highway to Raikot Bridge. Transfer to open-top jeeps for the stomach-churning 1-hour ascent on a dirt track — often cited as one of the world’s most dangerous roads, carved into a cliff face with sheer drops
- Fairy Meadows — A 2-3 hour hike (or pony ride) from the jeep point to this legendary alpine meadow at 3,300m. The name isn’t hyperbole — a grassy plateau surrounded by pine forests with Nanga Parbat’s 8,126m Raikot Face filling the entire northern sky. The mountain is so close you feel you could touch it. The Raikot Face is the highest mountain wall in the world — 4,600m of vertical relief
- Nanga Parbat Basecamp Trek (optional Day 2) — 4-hour hike to Beyal Camp (3,600m), the trekker’s base camp. Even closer to the Raikot Face. The glacier view and the thunder of distant avalanches are the soundtrack to your wilderness night
- Stay in a simple wooden hut — the setting more than compensates for the basic facilities
Day 3-5: Hunza Valley — Karimabad, Khunjerab & Passu
Altit/Baltit forts, Eagle’s Nest sunset, Attabad Lake boat ride, Hussaini Bridge crossing, Khunjerab Pass (4,693m), wildlife spotting, Passu Cones photography.
Day 6-8: Skardu — Shangri-La, Deosai & K2 Views
Kachura Lakes, Shigar Fort, Sarfa Ranga Cold Desert, Deosai Plains brown bears, Sheosar Lake, Manthokha Waterfall, K2 viewpoint at dawn.
Day 9-10: Return to Islamabad & Departure
Jaglot three-mountain junction, Faisal Mosque, Saidpur Village, departure.
