Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Edinburgh to the Highlands – Glencoe & Fort William

Depart Edinburgh at 08:45 from the central bus station, travelling past the imposing Forth Bridges and the Wallace Monument at Stirling. Enter the Highlands via Callander, pausing for morning refreshments at this charming gateway town. Cross the geological fault line into the Scottish Highlands, passing through the Trossachs and Rob Roy country. Arrive at spectacular Glencoe, where towering mountains form a natural amphitheatre scarred by the 1692 Massacre of Glencoe – your guide will recount the devastating betrayal of Clan MacDonald. Enjoy a lunch stop near Fort William, gazing up at Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain at 1,345 metres. Continue through the Great Glen to your accommodation near Fort William or the Glenfinnan area for the first overnight.

Day 2: The Isle of Skye – Full Day Exploration

After a hearty Scottish breakfast, cross the Skye Bridge onto the “Misty Isle.” Your first stop is Sligachan for stunning views of the Cuillin Ridge, Scotland’s most dramatic mountain range. Continue to Portree, Skye’s colourful harbour capital, for a lunch break with fresh local seafood. The afternoon explores the Trotternish Peninsula: photograph the iconic Old Man of Storr, a 150-foot basalt pinnacle steeped in legend; admire the dramatic Kilt Rock waterfall cascading 60 metres into the sea; and walk the breathtaking Quiraing landscape created by massive ancient landslides. Visit Duntulm Castle ruins and the Fairy Glen’s miniature green cone-shaped hills. Return to Portree for your second overnight, with an evening to explore local pubs featuring live traditional music.

Day 3: Eilean Donan Castle & Return to Edinburgh

Bid farewell to Skye and stop at the world’s most photographed castle – Eilean Donan – perched on its tidal island at the meeting of three lochs. Your guide explains the castle’s 13th-century origins and its role in the Jacobite risings. Journey south through the dramatic Five Sisters of Kintail to the picturesque village of Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness. Stretch your legs along the Caledonian Canal and keep watch for Nessie. After lunch, travel through the Cairngorms National Park, with photo stops at the haunting Commando Memorial and the forested glens of Perthshire. Pass Blair Castle and the Queensferry Crossing before arriving back in Edinburgh around 18:30, your memory cards filled with Highland magic.
