Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Morning pickup from Kigali. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a moving overview of Rwanda’s history. Drive 2.5 hours through Rwanda’s famously pristine countryside — the “Land of a Thousand Hills” — to Musanze, gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Afternoon optional visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Overnight near Volcanoes NP.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Return to Kigali
Early breakfast. Transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for 7 AM briefing. Trek into the bamboo and rainforest slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes to find one of Rwanda’s 12 habituated gorilla families. Experience the awe of sitting meters away from a silverback. One magical hour with the gorillas. Return for your certificate. Afternoon drive back to Kigali. Safe travels!
