Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Ashgabat to Darvaza — The Door to Hell
Morning tour of Ashgabat: Independence Monument, Neutrality Arch, Akhal-Teke horses. Afternoon drive into the Karakum Desert to reach the Darvaza Gas Crater by sunset. Watch the eternal flames roar against the dark desert sky. Overnight yurt camp beside the crater. Desert barbecue, stargazing.
Day 2: Merv — Queen of the World
Dawn at Darvaza. Drive to Mary and Ancient Merv (UNESCO). Explore the 4,000-year-old ruins of what was once the world’s largest city. Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, the Kyz Kala fortresses, Erk Kala citadel. Fly back to Ashgabat. Overnight Ashgabat.
Day 3: Departure
Morning at leisure or Ashgabat bazaar. Transfer to airport.
