Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Tunis — Star Wars Briefing

Welcome to Tatooine! Airport transfer to your hotel. Evening Star Wars film screening and briefing with your guide — a local who worked as an extra in the films. Learn about George Lucas’s 1976 scouting trip and why Tunisia became the galaxy’s most famous planet. Overnight in Tunis.

Day 2: Tataouine & Ksar Ouled Soltane

Drive south to the Tataouine region, which gave Tatooine its name. Visit Ksar Ouled Soltane, a stunning 4-story Berber granary (ghorfa) used as the slave quarters of Mos Espa in Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Explore Ksar Hadada, another granary that served as a Mos Espa location. Overnight in Tataouine.

Day 3: Chenini & Ksar Ghilane

Visit Chenini, a dramatic hilltop Berber village — its whitewashed houses and ancient mosque were used as the backdrop for the Lars Homestead exterior shots. Continue to Ksar Ghilane, a desert oasis where the pod race arena and Mos Espa sets were built. Ride a camel through the same dunes where Anakin raced his pod. Overnight in desert camp.

Day 4: Matmata — Luke’s Home

The big one! Visit the Hotel Sidi Driss in Matmata, the actual underground troglodyte house used as the Lars Homestead interior where Luke Skywalker lived with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. The set decorations are still in place — eat lunch exactly where Luke did! Visit other Matmata sites used for Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Overnight in Matmata troglodyte hotel.

Day 5: Chott el Djerid — Tatooine Desert

Cross the Chott el Djerid salt lake — the vast white salt flat doubled as Tatooine’s desert surface in multiple films. Visit the Lars Homestead exterior (Episode IV): the iconic igloo-shaped building where Luke watches the twin suns set. Continue to Ong Jemel, the “Neck of the Camel” rock formation where Darth Maul landed his ship in Episode I. Overnight in Tozeur.

Day 6: Mos Espa Set & Canyon of the Dead

Visit the actual Mos Espa movie set, still standing in the desert outside Tozeur — over 20 buildings including Watto’s shop, the pod race arena, and the streets where young Anakin walked. Continue to Sidi Bouhlel canyon (the “Star Wars Canyon”), used as the Jundland Wastes where R2-D2 was captured by Jawas and where Obi-Wan shouted “Hello there!” to R2. Return to Tunis. Overnight in Sidi Bou Said.

Day 7: Carthage & Depart Tunis

Morning at Carthage (optional, for non-Star Wars partners). Airport transfer. May the Force be with you!
