Experience not one but two of Papua New Guinea’s most colorful tribal festivals on a single, exclusive journey. Combine the famous Goroka Show with the remote Kalam Festival in the Simbai Valley, accessible only by helicopter. This is PNG’s ultimate cultural experience.
Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Port Moresby Arrival
VIP meet and greet at the airport. Transfer to Airways Hotel. Welcome dinner with traditional Bilum Water drum performance.
Day 2: Port Moresby Cultural Tour
Visit the National Museum, Parliament Haus, and Hanuabada stilt village — the largest stilt village in the South Pacific. Afternoon at Nature Park.
Day 3: Fly to Goroka
Flight to Goroka. Settle into your lodge. Afternoon acclimatization walk through Goroka town and the JK McCarthy Museum.
Day 4-5: Goroka Cultural Show
Two full days at the Goroka Show. Photograph over 90 tribes in full regalia. VIP seating and access to behind-the-scenes preparation areas. Evening cultural debriefing sessions.
Day 6: Helicopter to Simbai Valley
Charter helicopter flight over untouched mountain terrain to the remote Simbai Valley. Check into expedition camp. Afternoon introduction to Kalam culture.
Day 7-8: Kalam Festival
Two days at the intimate Kalam Festival — far smaller and more exclusive than the major shows. Witness unique Kalam rituals, bird of paradise dances, and initiation ceremonies rarely seen by outsiders.
Day 9: Return to Goroka
Helicopter return with spectacular aerial photography opportunities. Afternoon visit to Goroka’s famous coffee shops. Farewell dinner.
Day 10: Departure
Fly to Port Moresby and international departure.
