Day 1: Casablanca to Chefchaouen via Rabat
Morning: visit Hassan II Mosque — marvel at the 210m minaret and the mosque that floats on the Atlantic. Drive to Rabat: Royal Palace, Hassan Tower, Mohammed V Mausoleum. Continue through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen. Arrive at the Blue City as the afternoon light bathes its blue-washed streets in a golden glow. Climb to the Spanish Mosque for sunset — panoramic views of the blue pearl against the Rif Mountains. Overnight Chefchaouen.
Day 2: Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis
Sunrise walk through Chefchaouen’s empty blue streets — the most magical hour for photography. After breakfast, drive to Volubilis — the Roman ruins with extraordinary mosaics including the Labors of Hercules and Orpheus charming animals. Continue to Fes. Check into your riad. Evening: first medina exploration — walk through Bab Bou Jeloud into the maze. Overnight Fes.
Day 3: Fes — Imperial City
Full-day guided tour: Bou Inania Madrasa (14th-century masterpiece of zellij, stucco, and cedar), Al Quaraouiyine University (859 AD, world’s oldest), Chouara tanneries (the most famous leather workshops anywhere), the ceramic cooperative, and the Mellah. Afternoon tea at a rooftop cafe overlooking the medina — the call to prayer echoing from 300+ mosques. Overnight Fes.
Day 4: Fes to Merzouga — Sahara Bound
Early departure. Drive through Ifrane (cleanest city in the Arab world) and Azrou cedar forest (feed Barbary macaques!). Through the Middle Atlas to Midelt (apple capital) and down the dramatic Ziz Valley gorge with its sea of date palms. Arrive in Merzouga in late afternoon. The moment the dunes appear on the horizon — you’ve arrived. Camel trek into Erg Chebbi, the highest dunes in Morocco at 150m. Sunset from the back of a camel, then Berber camp: tagine, drums, stars, silence. Overnight desert camp.
Day 5: Merzouga to Marrakech
Pre-dawn: climb the dune for the Sahara sunrise — one of travel’s truly unforgettable moments. After breakfast, visit Rissani — the ancient trading town and the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, founder of the Alaouite dynasty that still rules Morocco. Long drive to Marrakech through the Todra Gorge, Dades Valley, Ouarzazate, and across the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Arrive Marrakech in the evening. Overnight Marrakech.
Day 6: Marrakech Discovery
Morning guided tour: Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace. Afternoon: dive into the souks — spices, leather, metalwork, carpets. Learn the art of haggling over mint tea with a carpet merchant (even if you don’t buy, the experience is priceless). Evening: Jemaa el-Fna at sunset — the transformation from day to night market. Farewell dinner on a rooftop: your last tagine with a view of the Koutoubia minaret lit against the darkening sky. Overnight Marrakech.
Day 7: Departure
