Itinerary Highlights
Days 1-3: Grande-Terre
Arrive in Pointe-à-Pitre. Explore Grande-Terre’s contrasts: the bustling capital with its spice market and Mémorial ACTe (Caribbean’s largest slavery museum, housed in a stunning silver-lattice building on the waterfront), the dramatic cliffs of Pointe des Châteaux, the windsurfing paradise of Le Moule, and the pristine beaches of Sainte-Anne. Visit the Damoiseau distillery for a comprehensive rum tasting. Evening at the marina in Saint-François.
Days 4-7: Basse-Terre
Cross to Basse-Terre. Hike La Soufrière volcano, explore the Carbet waterfalls, snorkel the Cousteau Reserve at Pigeon Islands, and walk the Route de la Traversée through the national park’s heart. Visit the Bologne distillery, the highest rum distillery in the Caribbean. Explore the historic town of Basse-Terre with its 17th-century Fort Delgrès, a key site in the abolition of slavery. Bathe in the thermal springs of Ravine Chaude.
Days 8-9: Les Saintes
Ferry to Les Saintes, an archipelago of eight tiny islands considered one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Terre-de-Haut, the main island, is car-free — explore by bicycle or electric golf cart. Visit Fort Napoléon for its cactus garden and iguana sanctuary. Snorkel at Pain de Sucre (Sugarloaf), a picture-perfect crescent beach. The water here is impossibly clear — shades of turquoise you’ve only seen in postcards. Don’t leave without trying the tourment d’amour, a coconut tart that’s the island’s culinary signature.
Day 10: Return & Depart
Ferry back to Trois-Rivières, transfer to airport.
