Day 1: Arrival in Caracas & Flight to Canaima National Park

Your adventure begins with an early morning flight from Caracas to Canaima National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site covering 30,000 square kilometers of pristine wilderness in southeastern Venezuela. Upon arrival at Canaima Lagoon, you’ll be greeted by your English-speaking Pemon indigenous guide. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring Canaima Lagoon’s stunning waterfalls — Hacha, Wadaima, Ucaima, and Golondrina — by traditional wooden canoe. A highlight of the day is the trek to Sapo Falls, where you’ll walk behind a thundering 20-meter-wide curtain of water, an experience possible in very few places on Earth. As the sun sets over the tepuis, enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by your guide, then settle into your hammock to the sounds of the jungle for your first night in this ancient landscape.

Day 2: River Journey to Angel Falls

After breakfast, board a motorized canoe for the spectacular 4-5 hour journey up the Carrao and Churun rivers toward Angel Falls. The route offers extraordinary views of Auyan Tepui, the massive sandstone plateau from which Angel Falls plunges 979 meters. Along the way, watch for wildlife including red howler monkeys, blue-and-yellow macaws, red-billed toucans, and vibrant poison dart frogs. You’ll stop at picturesque spots including Isla Orquidea for a picnic lunch with views of the tepuis rising from the jungle. Upon reaching the campsite directly opposite Angel Falls, you’ll witness the first breathtaking sight of the world’s tallest waterfall. As evening falls, watch the golden light play across the walls of Auyan Tepui before dinner and your first night in a hammock with Angel Falls as your backdrop.

Day 3: Trekking to Angel Falls Viewpoint & Laime Mirador

Rise early to see Angel Falls glowing in the first rays of morning sun — the best time for photography when the light strikes the waterfall directly. After a hearty breakfast, begin the 4.1-kilometer jungle trek through dense tropical vegetation to Laime Viewpoint (Mirador Laime), named after Latvian explorer Aleksandrs Laime who first documented the campsite. From this elevated position, you’ll enjoy the classic panoramic view of Angel Falls cascading from the summit of Auyan Tepui. If water levels permit, continue down to the rock pools near the base of the falls where you can swim in the refreshing freshwater of Churun River. Return to camp for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing in your hammock, absorbing the incredible scenery. Your guide will teach you how the Pemon people have navigated this landscape for centuries.

Day 4: Canaima Lagoon Village & Cultural Immersion

Start the day with breakfast and coffee at the campsite while enjoying final morning views of the falls. Then travel back down the Churun and Carrao rivers to Canaima Lagoon, stopping at Mayupa Savannah along the way. Here you’ll have the opportunity to meet local Pemon community members and learn about their traditional lifestyle, crafts, and deep connection to the land. Upon reaching Canaima Lagoon village, check into a basic posada (local guesthouse) with private bathrooms — a welcome opportunity for a fresh shower. Spend the afternoon exploring Canaima village, visiting local artisan shops for unique Pemon handicrafts, and interacting with friendly locals. Enjoy your final dinner in the national park, reflecting on the incredible journey under a canopy of stars.

Day 5: Return Flight to Caracas

After a leisurely breakfast and coffee at the posada, enjoy a few free hours to explore Canaima Lagoon village at your own pace. Take final photographs of the stunning tepuis and waterfalls that surround this remarkable settlement. Mid-morning, transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Caracas. As you soar over the endless jungle, tepuis, and winding rivers of Canaima National Park, you’ll carry memories of one of Earth’s most extraordinary natural wonders. Arrive in Caracas by early afternoon, marking the end of this authentic expedition. Your tour concludes upon arrival at Caracas airport, though we recommend extending your stay to explore Venezuela’s Caribbean coast or Los Roques archipelago.
