Day 1: Arrive Salta
Arrive Salta. Afternoon: colonial city walking tour — Plaza 9 de Julio, Salta Cathedral, Cabildo, San Francisco Church. Evening: dinner at a traditional peña with folk music and empanadas salteñas. Overnight Salta (4★).
Day 2: Quebrada de Humahuaca — Seven Colors & Salt Flats
Early departure north. Drive through Jujuy’s dramatic landscapes into the UNESCO Quebrada de Humahuaca. First stop: Purmamarca — the iconic Hill of Seven Colors dominates the village. Walk the Paseo de los Colorados, browse the artisan market. Continue to Tilcara: pre-Inca Pucará fortress (12th century), archaeological museum. After lunch, visit Uquía’s church with its famous Arquebusier Angels paintings. Final stop: Humahuaca town, with its colonial church, cobblestone streets, and the Independence Monument staircase. Evening return to Salta. Overnight Salta.
Day 3: Cafayate Wine Country & Quebrada de las Conchas
Drive south through the Lerma Valley. Enter the Quebrada de las Conchas — 50km of red rock fantasy: Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) cavern, Anfiteatro (natural amphitheater), Los Castillos (rock castles). Arrive Cafayate at 1,683m. Afternoon: wine tasting at two bodegas — Torrontés and Malbec at extreme altitude, among the highest vineyards on Earth. Evening free in Cafayate’s charming plaza. Overnight Cafayate (4★ wine resort).
Day 4: Cafayate to Salta
Morning at leisure in Cafayate — visit the artisan market, the Regional Museum of Vine and Wine, or simply enjoy the mountain views from the plaza. Afternoon drive back to Salta (3 hours). Transfer to airport.
