Day 2: Lagos — Art, History & Markets
Morning: National Museum for the Nok terracottas and Benin bronzes. Continue to Nike Art Gallery — 10,000+ artworks, a guided tour with the gallery’s expert curators. Afternoon: Lekki Conservation Centre for the canopy walkway, followed by Lagos’s Lekki Arts & Crafts Market. Evening dinner at a top Victoria Island restaurant. Overnight Eko Hotel, Lagos.
Day 3: Badagry — The Path of History
Full-day excursion to Badagry. Visit the Heritage Museum, follow the Slave Route to the Point of No Return, and reflect at the Attenuation Well. Lunch at a local seafood restaurant on the coast. Afternoon return to Lagos. Evening at leisure. Overnight Eko Hotel, Lagos.
Day 4: Lagos to Oshogbo — Sacred Ground
Morning flight or drive to Oshogbo. Afternoon: first exploration of the UNESCO-listed Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove — walking the forest paths among shrines and Susanne Wenger’s extraordinary sculptures. Visit the Nike Art Centre Oshogbo, where resident artists work and exhibit. Evening: traditional Yoruba dinner with drumming. Overnight Oshogbo (Protea Hotel or similar).
Day 5: Ile-Ife — Yoruba Spiritual Capital
Full day in Ile-Ife, the birthplace of the Yoruba. Visit the Ooni’s Palace, the Ife Museum (bronze and terracotta heads from the 12th-15th centuries), the sacred groves, and the Staff of Oranmiyan (a 5.5m stone obelisk erected in the 1300s). Afternoon: return to Oshogbo for a second visit to the Sacred Grove at sunset — the golden light through the ancient trees is magical. Overnight Oshogbo.
Day 6: Return & Departure
Morning at leisure in Oshogbo. Transfer to Lagos airport for departure.
