Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Rarotonga — Kia Orana!
Arrive at Rarotonga International Airport. Traditional greeting with fragrant ei (flower garland). Transfer to your beachfront resort on Muri Lagoon. Day 2: Rarotonga — Cross-Island Trek & Culture
Morning: guided cross-island trek with Pa, a legendary local guide. Hike through the tropical interior to the Needle (Te Rua Manga), a dramatic rock pinnacle at 413 meters with unforgettable 360-degree views over the island and lagoon. Learn about native plants used in traditional Maori medicine. Afternoon: visit the Punanga Nui Market in Avarua, the Cook Islands’ tiny capital. Snorkel among giant clams and colorful reef fish in the marine reserve. Day 4: Aitutaki — The World’s Most Beautiful Lagoon
Morning flight to Aitutaki (45 minutes). The approach itself is worth the trip — the lagoon’s shades of blue seem impossibly vivid from the air. Check into your overwater bungalow or beachfront villa. Afternoon at leisure on O’otu Beach, the private stretch of white sand at the edge of the lagoon. Day 5: Aitutaki Lagoon Cruise — One Foot Island
