Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Yangon

Airport transfer and bike fitting. Afternoon orientation ride through Yangon — colonial streets, Chinatown, and along the Yangon River. Evening visit to the illuminated Shwedagon Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Bagan — Cycling the Temple Plain (25km)

Morning flight to Bagan. After lunch, your first ride: a gentle 25km loop through the temple plain. Cycle past ancient pagodas on sandy tracks and quiet back roads. Stop at Shwezigon Pagoda and local villages. This is cycling paradise — flat terrain, minimal traffic, 2,000 temples as your backdrop. Sunset from a temple. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 3: Bagan — Countryside & Hidden Temples (45km)

Full-day ride through the Bagan countryside (45km). Leave the main tourist circuit behind — cycle through villages where farmers still use ox carts, past toddy palm climbers harvesting sap, and to temples that haven’t seen a tourist in weeks. Picnic lunch in the shade of a 900-year-old pagoda. Visit a lacquerware village and meet the artisans. Second sunset from a different temple. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 4: Bagan to Mandalay — River Journey

Morning ride to the Irrawaddy River (15km). Board a boat with your bikes for the scenic cruise to Mandalay. Watch rural life on the river — fishing boats, sand barges, and riverside villages. Arrive in Mandalay in the evening. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 5: Mandalay — Cycling the Ancient Capitals (35km)

Full-day ride through Mandalay and the ancient capitals. Start at Mahamuni Pagoda, then cycle to Amarapura and across U Bein Bridge. Continue to Inwa (Ava), the royal capital from 1364-1841, accessible only by ferry — cycle past ancient city walls, crumbling pagodas, and the beautiful Bagaya Monastery made entirely of teak. Ride back to Mandalay for sunset at Mandalay Hill. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 6: Mandalay to Pyin Oo Lwin — Highland Ride (50km)

Morning transfer to the Mandalay outskirts, then cycle into the Shan Highlands towards Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo), the former British hill station at 1,070 meters. The road climbs gently through pine forests and strawberry fields — a dramatic change from the dusty plains. Visit the National Kandawgyi Botanical Gardens, created by the British in 1915, and the colonial-era Purcell Tower. Overnight in Pyin Oo Lwin.

Day 7: Pyin Oo Lwin — Waterfalls & Train Market (25km)

Morning ride to the Pwe Kauk Falls and the Peik Chin Myaung Cave. Visit the unique Pyin Oo Lwin market where local vendors set up stalls on the railway tracks. Afternoon: take the historic train over the Gokteik Viaduct (optional, seasonal) — one of the world’s highest railway bridges. Drive back to Mandalay with bikes. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 8: Depart Mandalay

Morning at leisure or visit a gold leaf workshop. Transfer to Mandalay International Airport.
