Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Georgetown to Iwokrama
Early morning departure from Georgetown. Scenic drive through Guyana’s interior, crossing the Essequibo River by pontoon. Stop at Linden for lunch. Arrive at Iwokrama River Lodge, your home for the next two nights. Afternoon boat trip in search of wildlife along the river. Bar-b-que dinner on deck overlooking the Essequibo. Overnight at Iwokrama River Lodge.
Day 2: Turtle Mountain & Canopy Walkway
Pre-dawn departure for Turtle Mountain. A 1.5-hour hike through pristine rainforest leads to the summit (290m). Watch the sunrise illuminate an endless sea of green — the unbroken canopy of the Iwokrama forest stretching to all horizons. After returning, visit the canopy walkway. Then afternoon exploration of the Kurupukari Falls area — if water levels permit, see 6,000-year-old Amerindian petroglyphs. Overnight at Iwokrama River Lodge.
Day 3: Return to Georgetown
Early morning boat ride — dawn is prime time for wildlife. Return to Georgetown via the same route, arriving by late afternoon. Transfer to airport or hotel.
