Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Luxembourg City
Arrive in one of Europe’s most dramatic capitals. Luxembourg City is built on multiple levels with deep gorges cutting through its center. Afternoon walking tour of the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit Place Guillaume II, the Grand Ducal Palace (official residence), and Notre-Dame Cathedral. Overnight in Luxembourg City.
Day 2: Casemates & Grund
Morning visit to the Bock Casemates — 23km of underground tunnels carved into the rock, part of the former fortress known as the “Gibraltar of the North.” Walk the Chemin de la Corniche, dubbed “Europe’s most beautiful balcony,” with panoramic views over the Grund district. Afternoon explore the Grund and Clausen neighborhoods in the valley — artisan workshops, riverside cafes, and the Neumunster Abbey cultural center. Overnight in Luxembourg City.
Day 3: Mullerthal — Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland
Day trip to the Mullerthal region, known as Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland. Hike through the extraordinary rock formations, mossy forests, and waterfalls of this compact paradise. The Mullerthal Trail is one of Europe’s finest short hikes. Visit Echternach, Luxembourg’s oldest town and the final resting place of St. Willibrord. Afternoon visit to a Moselle Valley winery for Luxembourg’s underrated wines (Crémant de Luxembourg). Overnight in Luxembourg City.
Day 4: Vianden Castle & Depart
Drive to Vianden, one of Europe’s most perfect fairytale castles. Built between the 11th and 14th centuries and fully restored, it towers over the Our River valley. Take the chairlift for the best views. Visit the Victor Hugo Museum — the writer lived here in exile. Afternoon transfer to airport or high-speed train.
