Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Baku
Airport greeting and hotel check-in. Evening orientation walk along the Caspian Sea Boulevard. Welcome dinner at a restaurant in the Old City. Overnight in Baku.
Day 2: Baku Old & New
Morning exploration of Icherisheher — Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs’ Palace, Caravanserai, and the miniature book museum. Afternoon in modern Baku: the Carpet Museum shaped like a rolled carpet, Little Venice, and the Flame Towers. Evening cruise on the Caspian Sea. Overnight in Baku.
Day 3: Absheron Fire Trail
Yanar Dag at daylight, Ateshgah Fire Temple, and the Gala Archaeological-Ethnographic Museum Complex. Visit Mardakan Castle, a 14th-century fortress. Afternoon cooking class: learn to make Azeri dolma and kutab. Overnight in Baku.
Day 4: Gobustan & Mud Volcanoes
UNESCO Gobustan petroglyphs and the extraordinary mud volcanoes. Afternoon at leisure for spa or shopping at Port Baku Mall. Overnight in Baku.
Day 5: Shamakhi & Lahij Village
Drive through the Caucasus foothills to Shamakhi — visit Juma Mosque (743 AD, one of the oldest in the Caucasus). Continue to Lahij, a 2,000-year-old cobblestone village famous for copper craftsmanship. Watch artisans at work. Overnight in Gabala.
Day 6: Gabala Alpine Day
Tufandag cable car with Caucasus panoramas. Nohur Lake boat trip. Visit the Seven Beauties waterfall. Evening traditional music performance. Overnight in Gabala.
Day 7: Sheki — Silk Road Gem
Full day in Sheki: Khan’s Palace with its legendary stained glass, the Caravanserai, and the Albanian Church in Kish village (1st century AD). Taste Sheki’s famous halva. Overnight in Sheki.
Day 8: Return to Baku
Scenic drive back to Baku via the Ismayilli region. Visit a local winery in the Gabala region for pomegranate wine tasting. Farewell dinner at a restaurant overlooking the Flame Towers. Overnight in Baku.
Day 9: Depart Baku
Morning at leisure. Transfer to airport with last views of the Caspian Sea.
