Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Guatemala City — Antigua
Airport transfer to Antigua. Afternoon exploration of the colonial city — cobblestone streets, vibrant markets, and views of three volcanoes. Overnight in Antigua.
Day 2: Pacaya Volcano Summit
Early morning hike to Pacaya Volcano (2,552m). Walk across recent lava flows, feel the heat through cracks in the rock, and enjoy spectacular panoramic views. Afternoon: visit the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint for the classic Antigua skyline with Volcan Agua behind. Overnight in Antigua.
Day 3: Lake Atitlan & San Juan La Laguna
Transfer to Lake Atitlan. Boat across the lake to San Juan La Laguna, a Tz’utujil Maya village. Visit women’s weaving cooperatives and medicinal plant gardens. Continue to Santiago Atitlan to see the fascinating Maximon shrine. Overnight at Lake Atitlan.
Day 4: Chichicastenango Market & Fly to Flores
Early morning visit to Chichicastenango — one of the most colorful indigenous markets in the Americas (Thursday/Sunday). See Mayan rituals blending with Catholic traditions at Santo Tomas Church. Afternoon flight to Flores for Tikal. Overnight in Flores.
Day 5: Tikal Sunrise & Departure
Pre-dawn entry to Tikal. Experience sunrise from Temple IV as the jungle awakens. Guided tour of the Great Plaza, temples, and pyramids. Return to Flores for afternoon flight back to Guatemala City. International departure.
