Day 3: Pamplemousses Botanical Garden & North Coast
Morning at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden (Pamplemousses) — one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens, famous for its giant Victoria amazonica water lilies and 85 varieties of palms. Visit the colonial-era sugar estate of L’Aventure du Sucre. Afternoon at Grand Baie — Mauritius’s premier beach town. Overnight in Grand Baie.
Day 4: Île aux Cerfs — Paradise Island
Full-day catamaran cruise to Île aux Cerfs (Deer Island) — a pristine island off the east coast with powder-white beaches, crystal-clear lagoons, and lush vegetation. Snorkeling among tropical fish. Beach barbecue lunch on the catamaran. Parasailing and water sports optional. Sail back at sunset. Overnight in Grand Baie.
Day 5: Black River Gorges & Chamarel
Drive to Black River Gorges National Park — 6,574 hectares of lush forest, endemic birds, and spectacular waterfalls. Hike to viewpoints over the gorge. Continue to Chamarel: the Seven Colored Earth — undulating dunes of seven distinct colored sands (red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, yellow), a geological curiosity unique to Mauritius. Visit Chamarel Waterfall, the island’s highest at 100m. Rhumerie de Chamarel for rum tasting. Overnight in Chamarel.
Day 6: Le Morne & South Coast
Visit Le Morne Brabant (UNESCO) — a dramatic mountain peninsula that served as a refuge for escaped slaves. Its history as a symbol of freedom is deeply moving. Afternoon at Le Morne Beach, one of the world’s most beautiful. Optional kitesurfing lesson — Le Morne is one of the world’s top spots. Overnight in Bel Ombre.
Day 7: Trou aux Cerfs & Ganga Talao
Morning at Trou aux Cerfs — a dormant volcanic crater with a 360-degree panoramic view of the island. Visit Ganga Talao (Grand Bassin) — a sacred lake for Mauritius’s Hindu community, with a giant Shiva statue. Afternoon at the colonial-era town of Mahébourg on the southeast coast. Farewell dinner on the beach. Overnight in Mahébourg.
Day 8: Depart Mauritius
Morning at leisure on Blue Bay Beach — one of Mauritius’s best snorkeling spots. Airport transfer. Au revoir, Mauritius!
