Day 1: Arrive Santo Domingo
Airport greeting at Las Americas International. Transfer to colonial hotel in the Zona Colonial. Evening stroll through Parque Colon and dinner at a traditional comedor. Overnight in Santo Domingo.
Day 2: Santo Domingo Colonial Deep Dive
Full UNESCO Colonial Zone tour: Catedral Primada de America, Alcazar de Colon, Fortaleza Ozama, Museum of the Royal Houses, Pantheon Nacional. Afternoon: Museo del Ambar (Amber Museum) — the Dominican Republic is the world’s leading source of amber. Sunset at the Malecon. Overnight in Santo Domingo.
Day 3: Jarabacoa — Dominican Alps
Drive into the Cordillera Central mountains to Jarabacoa, the “City of Eternal Spring.” Visit Jimenoa and Baiguate waterfalls. White-water rafting on the Yaque del Norte River (optional). Afternoon hiking in the pine forests — a completely different Dominican Republic. Overnight in a mountain eco-lodge.
Day 4: Constanza & Valle Nuevo
Explore Constanza, a hidden valley town where strawberries and flowers grow at 4,000ft elevation. Visit Valle Nuevo National Park — alpine meadows, pygmy forests, and the stunning Aguas Blancas waterfall. The Dominican Republic’s best-kept secret. Overnight in Jarabacoa.
Day 5: Puerto Plata & North Coast
Descend to the Amber Coast. Visit Fortaleza San Felipe, one of the oldest European forts in the Americas. Ride the Teleferico cable car to Mount Isabel de Torres for panoramic views and the Christ the Redeemer statue. Afternoon at Playa Dorada. Overnight in Puerto Plata.
Day 6: Cabarete — Watersports Capital
Travel to Cabarete, the Caribbean’s windsurfing and kitesurfing capital. Morning windsurfing lesson (all levels welcome). Afternoon at Playa Encuentro, one of the Caribbean’s best surf breaks. Evening: Cabarete’s famous beachfront bars and restaurants. Overnight in Cabarete.
Day 7: Las Terrenas & Los Haitises
Scenic drive to the Samana Peninsula. Boat tour through Los Haitises National Park — mangrove forests, ancient Taino cave paintings, and dramatic limestone karst formations. Afternoon at Playa Coson. Farewell dinner with fresh lobster. Overnight in Las Terrenas.
Day 8: Depart Santo Domingo
Morning beach time. Scenic coastal drive back to Santo Domingo. Airport transfer. ¡Adios!
