Day 2: Edinburgh Castle & Royal Mile

Full morning at Edinburgh Castle — see the Crown Jewels, Stone of Destiny, and Mons Meg cannon. Afternoon exploring the Royal Mile: St. Giles’ Cathedral, John Knox House, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Special experience: Afternoon tea at Holyrood Palace. Overnight in Edinburgh.

Day 3: Stirling Castle & The Trossachs

Visit Stirling Castle, Scotland’s grandest castle and home of Mary Queen of Scots. See the Wallace Monument. Drive through the Trossachs National Park — “the Highlands in miniature.” Overnight in Stirling.

Day 4: Glamis Castle & Cairngorms

Day 5: Loch Ness & Urquhart Castle

Day 6: Culloden & Scottish Highlands

Walk the somber battlefield of Culloden, where the Jacobite Rising ended in 1746. Visit the Clava Cairns, 4,000-year-old burial chambers. Afternoon drive through the dramatic Highland scenery to Fort William. Overnight in Fort William.

Day 7: Glencoe & Eilean Donan Castle

Stand in awe at the Valley of Glencoe, scene of the infamous 1692 massacre. Continue to Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland’s most photographed fortress at the meeting point of three lochs. Overnight near Kyle of Lochalsh.

Day 8: Isle of Skye

Day 9: Return to Edinburgh
