Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrival in Taipei
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Taipei. Explore Taipei: visit the iconic Taipei 101 (one of the tallest buildings in the world, with a stunning observation deck), the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, the National Palace Museum (home to the world’s largest collection of Chinese imperial art and artifacts), the Longshan Temple (a beautiful 18th-century Buddhist temple), and the bustling Shilin Night Market (one of the largest and most famous night markets in Taiwan, with delicious street food including stinky tofu, bubble tea, oyster omelets, and beef noodle soup). Evening welcome dinner with Taiwanese cuisine. Overnight in Taipei.
Day 2: Taipei Exploration & to Hualien
Morning continue exploring Taipei: visit the historic Dihua Street (a traditional street with herbal medicine shops, fabric stores, and traditional food), the Dalongdong Baoan Temple, the Confucius Temple, and the trendy Ximending district (a popular shopping and entertainment area for young people). Visit the Maokong Gondola for stunning views of Taipei and the surrounding mountains, and enjoy tea at a traditional teahouse in Maokong (famous for its tea plantations). After lunch, take the train to Hualien (approximately 2-3 hours), a beautiful city on the east coast of Taiwan, known as the gateway to Taroko Gorge. Upon arrival, explore Hualien: visit the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park, the Dongdamen Night Market, and the beautiful Hualien Bay. Evening enjoy fresh seafood dinner. Overnight in Hualien.
Day 3: Taroko Gorge
Full day excursion to Taroko Gorge (Taroko National Park), one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Taiwan, a stunning marble canyon carved by the Liwu River, with towering cliffs, crystal-clear waters, beautiful temples, and hiking trails. Explore the gorge: visit the Eternal Spring Shrine (a beautiful temple built into the cliffside, commemorating the workers who died building the Central Cross-Island Highway), the Swallow Grotto (a narrow section of the gorge with tunnels carved into the marble cliffs, where swallows nest), the Tunnel of Nine Turns (a series of tunnels and walkways through the marble cliffs), the Cimu Bridge (a beautiful red suspension bridge), the Tianxiang Recreation Area (a scenic area with a Buddhist temple, pagoda, and beautiful gardens), and the Baiyang Trail (a beautiful hiking trail through the gorge with waterfalls and tunnels). Day 4: Hualien to Taitung (East Coast)
Morning drive along the scenic east coast of Taiwan to Taitung (approximately 2-3 hours), with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the coastal mountains. Along the way, visit the Chishingtan Beach (a beautiful pebble beach with clear blue water), the Taroko Visitor Center, the Shitiping (Stone Steps) coastal area (with unique rock formations and beautiful tide pools), the Farglory Ocean Park (optional), and the Sanxiantai (Three Immortals Platform) with its iconic eight-arch pedestrian bridge connecting the mainland to a small island. After lunch, continue to Taitung, a beautiful city on the southeast coast of Taiwan, known for its natural beauty, hot air balloon festival, and indigenous culture. Day 5: Taitung to Kaohsiung
Morning take the train from Taitung to Kaohsiung (approximately 2.5-3 hours), passing through the beautiful scenery of southern Taiwan. Upon arrival in Kaohsiung, the second-largest city in Taiwan and a major port city in the south, explore the city: visit the iconic 85 Sky Tower (Tuntex Sky Tower, with a stunning observation deck), the Love River (a beautiful river that flows through the city, with romantic riverside walks, cafes, and boat rides), the Pier-2 Art Center (a creative arts district in renovated warehouse buildings along the harbor, with art installations, galleries, cafes, and shops), the Cijin Island (a small island accessible by ferry, with beautiful beaches, a lighthouse, a fort, and fresh seafood), the Liuhe Night Market (one of the most famous night markets in southern Taiwan), and the Ruifeng Night Market.
