Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Honiara

Airport transfer. Afternoon orientation: Central Market, National Museum, American Memorial at Skyline Ridge with panoramic views over Iron Bottom Sound. Welcome dinner at Honiara Yacht Club.

Days 2-3: WWII Wreck Diving

Two full days of world-class wreck diving in Iron Bottom Sound. The waters between Guadalcanal, Savo, and Florida Islands contain over 50 wrecks — the highest concentration of WWII shipwrecks in the world. Dive sites include: Hirokawa Maru (Japanese transport in 5-40m, covered in corals), Kinugawa Maru (beach-accessible wreck, great snorkeling), Bonegi I & II (twin Japanese transports), and the B-17 Flying Fortress (a rare intact bomber at 20m). Non-divers can snorkel the beach wrecks and explore shore-based WWII sites. Afternoons: visit Vilu War Museum’s extraordinary collection of aircraft, tanks, and artillery.

Day 4: Battlefield Tour

Full-day Guadalcanal land battlefields: Bloody Ridge (Edson’s Ridge) with original foxholes, Mount Austin Japanese Memorial, the Gifu battle site, and the Matanikau River crossing points. Visit a traditional village for panpipe music and shell money demonstration.

Day 5: Savo Island & Hot Springs

Boat to Savo Island — snorkel over pristine coral gardens, visit the geothermal area where villagers cook in steam vents, and see the megapode bird nesting fields. Afternoon: optional final dive or snorkel. Farewell dinner at the Honiara waterfront.

Day 6: Departure

Morning market visit for wood carvings and souvenirs. Airport transfer.
