Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Douala Arrival

Arrive in Douala. Afternoon city tour of Bonanjo district and artisanal markets. Welcome dinner featuring fresh Atlantic seafood.

Day 2: Douala to Bandjoun — Entering the Grassfields

Drive into western Cameroon’s Grassfields — a region of rolling hills, volcanic lakes, and powerful traditional kingdoms. Arrive at Bandjoun, one of the most important chiefdoms. Visit the Bandjoun Chiefdom Museum housed in a stunning traditional palace with carved wooden pillars and a conical thatched roof. Overnight at Hotel Zingana in Bafoussam.

Day 3: Foumban — The Sultan’s Palace

Full day in Foumban, seat of the Bamoun Sultanate dating to the 14th century. The Sultan’s Palace Museum showcases Yoruba-influenced architecture and holds an extraordinary collection of royal regalia, weapons, musical instruments, and manuscripts in the unique Bamoun script — one of the few indigenous African writing systems. Explore the copper foundry quarter where artisans create lost-wax castings.

Day 4: Dschang — Museums & Mountains

Travel to Dschang, a charming town in the western highlands. Visit the Museum of Civilizations, which offers a comprehensive overview of Cameroon’s 250+ ethnic groups. Afternoon walk through the botanical gardens with views over the volcanic landscape.

Day 5: Buea — Foot of Mount Cameroon

Descend from the highlands to Buea on Mount Cameroon’s slopes. Visit the Bonanlyonga royal seat. The town’s German colonial architecture — including the former governor’s palace — speaks to its role as the capital of German Kamerun.

Day 6: Limbe — Atlantic Coast & Wildlife

Short drive to Limbe, a coastal town with dramatic black-sand beaches. Morning visit to the Limbe Wildlife Centre for close-up encounters with rescued gorillas and chimpanzees. Afternoon at the Limbe Botanic Garden and a swim at the volcanic beaches. Overnight at Marcsons Hotels with Atlantic views.

Day 7: Return to Douala & Departure

Coastal road back to Douala. Airport transfer.
