Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrival in Paro & Paro Valley

Arrive at Paro International Airport. Transfer to your hotel. Explore Paro: visit the Paro Dzong, the National Museum, and the Kyichu Lhakhang. Experience a traditional Bhutanese welcome ceremony. Evening welcome dinner with Bhutanese cuisine. Overnight in Paro.

Day 2: Tiger’s Nest Monastery & to Thimphu

Morning hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang, one of the most sacred sites in Bhutan). The hike takes approximately 2-3 hours each way. Visit the monastery, participate in a meditation session, and enjoy the stunning views. After the hike, drive to Thimphu (approximately 1 hour). Explore Thimphu: visit the Tashichho Dzong, the Memorial Chorten, the Buddha Dordenma, and the Institute of Traditional Medicine (learn about Bhutanese traditional medicine and its connection to happiness and well-being). Evening dinner with Bhutanese cuisine. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 3: Thimphu – Happiness & Culture

Morning visit the Centre for Bhutan Studies and GNH Research (learn about the Gross National Happiness philosophy and how Bhutan measures happiness). Visit the National Library, the Folk Heritage Museum, and the Royal Textile Academy. Visit a traditional Bhutanese school and interact with the students. Experience a traditional Bhutanese cooking class and learn to prepare ema datshi (the national dish). Visit the bustling Thimphu Weekend Market. Evening attend a traditional Bhutanese cultural show with mask dances and folk dances. Dinner with Bhutanese cuisine. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha & Punakha Dzong

Morning drive from Thimphu to Punakha (approximately 2-3 hours), over the Dochula Pass (3,140 meters, with stunning views of the Himalayas and 108 chortens). Visit the Punakha Dzong (one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan). Participate in a Buddhist blessing ceremony. Visit the Chimi Lhakhang (the Fertility Temple). Enjoy a leisurely walk through the beautiful Punakha countryside and rice fields. Experience a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath (a unique Bhutanese wellness treatment, with water heated by hot stones, infused with medicinal herbs). Evening dinner with Bhutanese cuisine. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 5: Punakha to Paro & Wellness

Morning drive from Punakha back to Paro (approximately 2-3 hours). Afternoon visit a traditional Bhutanese spa and wellness center, experience a traditional Bhutanese massage and wellness treatment. Visit the nearby Paro Valley and enjoy a leisurely walk through the beautiful rice fields and villages. Visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse and interact with a local family, learning about their way of life and their philosophy of happiness. Day 6: Paro & Departure
