Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrival in Lagos & Victoria Island
Arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (Ikeja, Lagos). Transfer to your hotel on Victoria Island, the business and entertainment hub of Lagos. Explore Victoria Island: visit the Civic Centre, the Silverbird Galleria (shopping and entertainment complex), the Eko Hotel area, and the beautiful waterfront. Day 2: Lagos Markets & Ikeja
Morning visit the bustling markets of Lagos: Balogun Market (one of the largest markets in West Africa, with everything from textiles and clothing to electronics and food), the Computer Village in Ikeja (the largest computer and electronics market in Africa), and the Oba Market (traditional market with arts, crafts, and traditional medicines). Visit the Nike Art Gallery, one of the largest art galleries in Africa, with over 7,000 artworks by Nigerian artists. After lunch, visit the Kalakuta Republic Museum (the former home of Fela Kuti, the legendary Afrobeat musician, now a museum documenting his life and music). Visit the New Afrika Shrine (a live music venue and cultural center founded by Fela’s family). Evening enjoy live Afrobeat music. Overnight in Lagos.
Day 3: Nollywood Experience & Lekki
Morning Nollywood experience: visit a Nollywood film studio or set (Nollywood is the second-largest film industry in the world by volume, producing over 2,500 films per year). Learn about the Nigerian film industry, watch a filming session, and meet actors and directors. Visit the Nigerian Film Corporation and the National Theatre (a stunning national monument shaped like a military cap). After lunch, explore Lekki: visit the Lekki Conservation Centre (a 78-hectare nature reserve with the longest canopy walkway in Africa, 401 meters long, where you can see monkeys, crocodiles, and a variety of birds), the Lekki Free Trade Zone, and the beautiful Lekki beaches. Visit the Badagry Slave Route: the Point of No Return (Gberefu Island, where enslaved Africans were loaded onto ships), the Slave Port, the Slave Market, the first story building in Nigeria (built in 1845 by missionaries), the Badagry Heritage Museum, and the Black History Museum. Learn about the history of the slave trade, the middle passage, and the abolition movement. Visit the Seriki Faremi Abass Slave Barraccoon (where enslaved people were held before being shipped). Day 5: Epe & Departure
