Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrival in Lagos & Victoria Island

Arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (Ikeja, Lagos). Transfer to your hotel on Victoria Island, the business and entertainment hub of Lagos. Explore Victoria Island: visit the Civic Centre, the Silverbird Galleria (shopping and entertainment complex), the Eko Hotel area, and the beautiful waterfront. Evening welcome dinner with Nigerian cuisine including jollof rice, suya (spiced grilled meat), and pounded yam with egusi soup. Experience the vibrant nightlife of Lagos (optional). Overnight in Lagos (Victoria Island).

Day 2: Lagos Markets & Ikeja

Morning visit the bustling markets of Lagos: Balogun Market (one of the largest markets in West Africa, with everything from textiles and clothing to electronics and food), the Computer Village in Ikeja (the largest computer and electronics market in Africa), and the Oba Market (traditional market with arts, crafts, and traditional medicines). Visit the Nike Art Gallery, one of the largest art galleries in Africa, with over 7,000 artworks by Nigerian artists. After lunch, visit the Kalakuta Republic Museum (the former home of Fela Kuti, the legendary Afrobeat musician, now a museum documenting his life and music). Visit the New Afrika Shrine (a live music venue and cultural center founded by Fela’s family). Evening enjoy live Afrobeat music. Overnight in Lagos.

Day 3: Nollywood Experience & Lekki

Morning Nollywood experience: visit a Nollywood film studio or set (Nollywood is the second-largest film industry in the world by volume, producing over 2,500 films per year). Learn about the Nigerian film industry, watch a filming session, and meet actors and directors. Visit the Nigerian Film Corporation and the National Theatre (a stunning national monument shaped like a military cap). After lunch, explore Lekki: visit the Lekki Conservation Centre (a 78-hectare nature reserve with the longest canopy walkway in Africa, 401 meters long, where you can see monkeys, crocodiles, and a variety of birds), the Lekki Free Trade Zone, and the beautiful Lekki beaches. Visit the Elegushi Royal Beach. Evening enjoy a beachside dinner. Overnight in Lagos.

Day 4: Badagry Slave Trade Heritage Tour

Full day excursion to Badagry (approximately 1.5 hours from Lagos), a historic town on the Atlantic coast that was a major center of the transatlantic slave trade. Visit the Badagry Slave Route: the Point of No Return (Gberefu Island, where enslaved Africans were loaded onto ships), the Slave Port, the Slave Market, the first story building in Nigeria (built in 1845 by missionaries), the Badagry Heritage Museum, and the Black History Museum. Learn about the history of the slave trade, the middle passage, and the abolition movement. Visit the Seriki Faremi Abass Slave Barraccoon (where enslaved people were held before being shipped). After lunch, visit the beautiful beaches of Badagry and the Ogu people’s traditional village. Evening return to Lagos. Overnight in Lagos.

Day 5: Epe & Departure

Morning excursion to Epe (approximately 1.5 hours from Lagos), a historic town on the Lekki Lagoon, known as the birthplace of many Nigerian leaders and for its fishing industry. Visit the Epe Fish Market (one of the largest fish markets in Nigeria), the Epe Mangroves (take a boat ride through the beautiful mangrove forests), the Ogun Festival site, and the historic Epe Resort and Spa. Visit the Lagos State University (LASU) campus. After lunch, return to Lagos. Visit the Terra Kulture (a cultural center, art gallery, restaurant, and theater promoting Nigerian arts and culture) for last-minute shopping for Nigerian art, crafts, and fashion.
