Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Labuan Bajo – Rinca Island & Kelor Island
Arrive at Komodo Airport (Labuan Bajo, Flores). Transfer to the harbor and board your traditional Indonesian sailing boat. Set sail for Rinca Island, one of the three main islands where Komodo dragons live in the wild. Trek through the savanna with a park ranger to encounter the legendary Komodo dragons (the world’s largest lizards), as well as wild buffalo, deer, monkeys, and exotic birds. After the dragon trek, sail to Kelor Island for a refreshing swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters. Enjoy sunset on deck as the boat anchors for the night. Dinner on board with Indonesian cuisine. Overnight on board the boat.
Day 2: Padar Island, Pink Beach & Komodo Island
Early morning hike up Padar Island for a spectacular sunrise view over the three bays with their differently colored beaches (pink, white, and black sand). The panoramic view from the top is one of the most iconic in Indonesia. After breakfast, sail to Pink Beach (Tangsi Beach), one of only seven pink sand beaches in the world, with its stunning pink sand created by red coral fragments mixed with white sand. Snorkel in the vibrant coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, sea turtles, and rays. After lunch, sail to Komodo Island (the largest island in the park and namesake of the dragons). Trek to the Komodo dragon viewing areas with a park ranger, encountering dragons in their natural habitat. Visit the Komodo National Park visitor center. Sunset on deck. Dinner on board. Overnight on board the boat.
Day 3: Manta Point snorkel & return to Labuan Bajo
Early morning snorkel at Manta Point (Taka Makassar), one of the best places in the world to swim with giant oceanic manta rays. These graceful creatures, with wingspans of up to 5 meters, glide through the water in large numbers. Snorkel among the mantas and the vibrant coral reef. After breakfast, sail back to Labuan Bajo, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Indonesian islands along the way. Arrive at the harbor around midday. Disembark and transfer to Komodo Airport for your onward flight, concluding your exciting 3-day Komodo sailing adventure.
Additional tips: Best time to visit Komodo National Park is during the dry season (April to October) when the weather is sunny and the sea is calm. The wet season (November to March) brings rain and rougher seas, but the islands are lush and green. Pack reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, snorkeling gear, and comfortable hiking shoes. The park is committed to conservation, and visitor fees support dragon protection programs and local community development. Remember to follow ranger instructions at all times when near the dragons, maintain a safe distance, and never turn your back on a dragon. With its unique wildlife, stunning landscapes, and world-class snorkeling, Komodo National Park is truly one of the last great wilderness areas on Earth and an unforgettable destination for any traveler.
