Itinerary Highlights
Days 1-2: Arrive Aden — Gateway to Yemen
Fly into Aden, the ancient port city. Tour Aden: the historic Crater district in an extinct volcano caldera, the Sira Fortress, and the Aden Tanks — 1,500-year-old reservoirs. Day 2: drive to Taiz region for mountain landscapes. Overnights in Aden.
Day 3: Wadi Dawan — Yemen’s Grand Canyon
Journey into the Hadramaut region. Wadi Dawan is one of Arabia’s most dramatic landscapes — a deep canyon lined with ancient mud-brick villages perched impossibly on cliff edges. Visit Al-Hajjaren, the most famous of these “skyscraper villages.” Overnight in Wadi Dawan.
Day 4: Shibam — Manhattan of the Desert
Shibam (UNESCO World Heritage) — the world’s oldest skyscraper city. This 1,700-year-old walled city of 500 mud-brick tower houses rises up to 11 stories from the desert floor, built entirely from sun-dried mud. Walk the narrow streets and climb a tower for sunset views. Overnight in Seiyun.
Days 5-6: Al-Mahrah — Journey to the Eastern Coast
Travel through the remote Al-Mahrah governorate — a region of stark desert beauty along the Arabian Sea. Visit the port of Nishtun. This is the road less traveled — pristine beaches, camel caravans, and Bedouin camps. Overnight in Al-Mahrah.
Days 7-13: Socotra Island — 7-Day Expedition
Fly from Al-Mahrah to Socotra. Seven full days exploring the “Galapagos of the Indian Ocean” — the full 8-day itinerary condensed into 7 days covering: Delisha Beach, Dixam dragon blood forest, Homhil infinity pool, Arher dunes, Hoq Cave, Detwah Lagoon, Qalansiyah, and Shuab Beach. Full camping experience with Socotri guides.
Days 14-15: Return to Aden — Depart
Fly back to mainland Yemen. Final day in Aden for markets and relaxation. Farewell Yemeni dinner — mandi (slow-roasted lamb with spiced rice). Transfer to airport.
