Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Port Moresby

Airport transfer. Trek briefing and equipment check. Visit Bomana War Cemetery. Overnight in POM.

Day 2: Fly to Kokoda — Trek Begins

Charter flight to Kokoda village. Visit the Kokoda Memorial and museum. Begin trekking through the Yodda Valley. First night camping in a village — meet your PNG trekking team (porters, cooks, guides) who will be your companions for the journey. Overnight in village camp.

Day 3-4: Owen Stanley Range — The Climb

The Kokoda Track crosses the spine of the Owen Stanley Range, one of the most rugged mountain chains on Earth. Ascend through dense jungle, crossing crystal mountain streams. Day 4: reach the Isurava Memorial, site of one of the most significant battles of the Kokoda Campaign. The four granite pillars bearing the words “Courage, Endurance, Mateship, Sacrifice” are deeply moving. Overnight in village camps.

Day 5-6: Brigade Hill & Menari

Trek through some of the most historically significant sections of the track. Brigade Hill — where Australian soldiers made a desperate stand against overwhelming Japanese forces. Visit the war memorials and battlefield sites. Descend to Menari village, a traditional Koiari community. Overnight in village camps.

Day 7-8: Nauro & Ioribaiwa

Continue through the jungle — every day brings new challenges and rewards: river crossings, steep ascents, misty ridgelines, and warm welcomes from village communities. Reach Ioribaiwa Ridge, the furthest point of the Japanese advance. Overnight in village camps.

Day 9: Owers’ Corner — The Finish

The final day of trekking. Emerge from the jungle at Owers’ Corner, the southern terminus of the Kokoda Track. Emotional finish — you’ve walked in the footsteps of heroes. Drive back to Port Moresby. Hot shower, cold drink, deep satisfaction. Overnight in POM.

Day 10: Port Moresby — Rest & Reflect

Rest day. Morning at leisure. Afternoon visit to the PNG National Museum’s Kokoda exhibition — you’ll understand it on a completely different level now. Farewell dinner with your trekking team. Overnight in POM.
