Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Zagreb
Welcome to Croatia’s vibrant capital! Airport transfer to your hotel. Afternoon walking tour of Zagreb’s Upper Town: St. Mark’s Church with its colorful tiled roof, the Cathedral, and the historic Stone Gate. Evening stroll through lively Tkalciceva Street with its cafes and restaurants. Overnight in Zagreb.
Day 2: Plitvice Lakes National Park
Journey to Plitvice Lakes, Croatia’s most celebrated UNESCO site. Walk wooden footbridges over 16 terraced lakes connected by waterfalls in shades of turquoise, emerald, and azure. Boat ride across Kozjak Lake. Photography at Veliki Slap, the 78m Great Waterfall. Continue to Zadar for overnight.
Day 3: Zadar & Trogir
Morning in Zadar — visit the Roman Forum, 9th-century St. Donatus Church, and Alfred Hitchcock’s favorite sunset spot with the Sea Organ and Sun Salutation installations. Afternoon in Trogir, a UNESCO gem set on a tiny island: Kamerlengo Fortress, St. Lawrence Cathedral with Radovan’s Portal. Overnight in Split.
Day 4: Split — Diocletian’s Palace
Full day exploring Split’s UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, a 1,700-year-old Roman emperor’s retirement home turned living city. Walk the Peristyle, visit St. Domnius Cathedral (the world’s oldest), Jupiter’s Temple, and the fascinating underground substructures. Climb Marjan Hill for panoramic views. Overnight in Split.
Day 5: Hvar Island Day Trip
Catamaran to Hvar, the sunniest island in the Adriatic. Explore Hvar Town’s Renaissance square, the hilltop Spanish Fortress, and the oldest public theater in Europe. Lavender fields and olive groves. Optional boat trip to the Pakleni Islands for swimming. Return to Split.
Day 6: Peljesac Peninsula & Wine
Scenic coastal drive south along the Makarska Riviera. Stop at the Peljesac Peninsula, Croatia’s premier wine region. Visit family wineries producing Dingac and Postup red wines from Plavac Mali grapes. Oyster tasting in Ston, home to the world’s second-longest stone walls (5.5km). Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 7: Dubrovnik — King’s Landing
Walk the magnificent 1,940m city walls of Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic.” Guided tour of the Old Town: Stradun main street, Rector’s Palace, Sponza Palace, Franciscan Monastery with Europe’s oldest pharmacy. Cable car to Mount Srd for breathtaking views. Farewell dinner at a cliffside restaurant. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 8: Depart Dubrovnik
Morning at leisure for last exploration of the marble streets. Transfer to Dubrovnik Airport.
