Arrival in Larnaca

Nicosia — Divided Capital
Cross the Green Line at Ledra Street — the only divided capital in Europe. Morning in the south (Republic of Cyprus), afternoon in the north — Büyük Han, Selimiye Mosque (the Gothic Cathedral turned mosque), and the old city walls.
Kyrenia & Bellapais
Cross to the north. Kyrenia Castle and harbour, then Bellapais Abbey — a 13th-century Gothic monastery where Lawrence Durrell wrote Bitter Lemons with views of the Mediterranean. Lunch under the legendary Tree of Idleness.
Paphos — Aphrodite’s Birthplace
Drive to Paphos. Petra tou Romiou — the sea stack where Aphrodite rose from the foam. Tombs of the Kings, the UNESCO Archaeological Park with extraordinary Roman mosaics, and Paphos Castle at sunset.
Troodos Mountains
Drive into the Troodos. Kykkos Monastery — the richest in Cyprus with a gold-covered icon painted by St. Luke. Omodos village for wine tasting of Commandaria, the world’s oldest named wine, in continuous production since 800 BC.
Kourion & Kolossi
Kourion — a Greco-Roman theatre perched on cliffs above the sea. Kolossi Castle — the medieval headquarters of the Knights Templar. Afternoon at Governor’s Beach. Farewell dinner of kleftiko lamb slow-cooked for 12 hours.
