Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Minsk
Arrive and explore central Minsk. Great Patriotic War Museum. Evening: draniki dinner. Overnight in Minsk.
Day 2: Minsk to Dudutki — Living Museum
Visit the Dudutki Open-Air Museum of Folk Crafts (45 minutes from Minsk). This living museum recreates a 19th-century Belarusian village with working windmill, pottery workshop, bakery, cheese dairy, and blacksmith. Try fresh-baked bread, taste homemade samogon (moonshine), and ride a horse-drawn cart. Afternoon return to Minsk for Mir Castle visit. Overnight in Minsk.
Day 3-4: Belovezhskaya Pushcha — Europe’s Last Primeval Forest
Drive to Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park (4 hours), a UNESCO World Heritage site and Europe’s last remaining primeval forest — this is what Europe looked like before humans. Two days exploring: walk among 600-year-old oak trees, visit the Nature Museum, and tour the enclosures to see European bison (zubr) — the heaviest land animal in Europe, successfully reintroduced here after near-extinction. Optional cycling through the forest. Stay at a guesthouse inside the park. Overnight in the park (2 nights).
Day 5: Grodno — Royal City
Drive to Grodno (2 hours), one of Belarus’ most beautiful cities near the Polish and Lithuanian borders. Visit the Old Castle (11th century) and New Castle (18th century), seat of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth’s parliament. Walk through Soviet Street (Sovetskaya), a perfectly preserved pedestrian street. Visit the impressive Farny Church and the Great Choral Synagogue, one of Europe’s most beautiful. Overnight in Grodno.
Day 6: Polotsk — Belarus’ Oldest City
Drive to Polotsk (5 hours through the Belarusian countryside). Polotsk, founded in 862 AD, is Belarus’ oldest city and the birthplace of Belarusian statehood. Visit St. Sophia Cathedral (11th century), the Museum of Belarusian Book-Printing (honoring Francysk Skaryna, who printed the first book in Eastern Europe in 1517), and the Convent of St. Euphrosyne with its 12th-century frescoes. Overnight in Polotsk.
Day 7: Return to Minsk via Khatyn
Drive back to Minsk stopping at Khatyn Memorial (not to be confused with Katyn in Russia) — a deeply moving memorial on the site of a village where Nazis burned 149 residents alive in 1943. The memorial’s haunting bell towers (one for each destroyed Belarusian village) toll every 30 seconds across the silent clearing. Afternoon: Nesvizh Palace visit. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Minsk.
Day 8: Depart Minsk
Morning at Komarovsky Market. Transfer to airport.
