Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Manchester to Llandudno via Llangollen & Conwy

Departing Manchester at 10:00, journey west into the glorious Welsh countryside. First stop at the UNESCO-listed Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Llangollen, an extraordinary feat of Industrial Revolution engineering spanning the Dee Valley. Enjoy a traditional Welsh lunch in the charming market town of Llangollen before boarding the Llangollen Heritage Steam Railway for a scenic 10-mile journey through the picturesque Dee Valley to Corwen, following the footsteps of Welsh hero Owain Glyndwr. Continue north to Conwy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to explore the mighty 13th-century Conwy Castle, one of Edward I’s finest fortresses, with its eight massive towers and commanding views over the estuary. Cross the historic Menai Suspension Bridge onto Anglesey for a photo stop at the famously named Llanfairpwllgwyngyll before arriving in the elegant Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno for your two-night stay. Evening at leisure to explore the Victorian pier and seafront promenade.

Day 2: Snowdonia National Park, Harlech Castle & Portmeirion

After breakfast, embark on a spectacular drive through the heart of Snowdonia National Park (Eryri), Wales’ largest and most dramatic national park. Wind through impossibly scenic valleys surrounded by towering peaks, pristine lakes, and cascading waterfalls. Stop at the charming village of Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia, before continuing to the dramatic Harlech Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage fortress perched high on a cliff overlooking Cardigan Bay. In the afternoon, discover the enchanting Portmeirion Village, architect Clough Williams-Ellis’s whimsical Italianate fantasy village set on the banks of the Dwyryd Estuary. Wander through piazzas, colonnades, and Mediterranean gardens featuring pastel-colored buildings, fountains, and a stunning coastal backdrop. Optional lunch at the Portmeirion Hotel restaurant. Return to Llandudno for the evening.

Day 3: Caernarfon Castle, Slate Heritage & Return to Manchester

This morning visit the magnificent Caernarfon Castle, another of Edward I’s UNESCO-listed masterpieces and the birthplace of the first Prince of Wales. Walk the battlements where Prince Charles was invested in 1969. Continue to the Llanberis Slate Museum within the Snowdonia Slate Landscape UNESCO World Heritage Site, learning about the industry that once roofed the world. Journey east through scenic North Wales countryside with a stop in Chester, one of Britain’s best-preserved walled cities with Roman origins. Walk the ancient city walls, explore the unique two-tiered medieval Rows shopping galleries, and visit Chester Cathedral. Arrive back in Manchester at approximately 18:30.
