Day 1: Arrive Khartoum
Arrive at Khartoum International Airport. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon stroll along Nile Street waterfront. Visit the Sudan National Museum housing rescued Nubian temples and Kushite artifacts. Evening at leisure.
Day 2: Omdurman — Sudan’s Cultural Heart
Cross the Nile to Omdurman. Explore the sprawling Omdurman Souq — one of Africa’s greatest traditional markets for spices, gold, textiles, and handicrafts. Visit the Mahdi’s Tomb and Khalifa House Museum — key sites from Sudan’s Mahdist period. Evening: attend a mesmerizing Sufi Dervish whirling ceremony at Hamed al-Nil Mosque.
Day 3: Meroe Pyramids
Morning drive 200km north through the Nubian Desert. Arrive at the Royal Pyramids of Meroe — over 200 steep-sided pyramids of Kushite kings and queens. Explore the pyramids, Royal Baths, and ancient city ruins. Sunset photography with spectacular golden desert light. Camp near the pyramids under the stars.
Day 4: Meroe Sunrise → Naqa & Musawwarat → Khartoum
Sunrise at the pyramids. Visit Naqa — the Lion Temple of Apedemak and Roman-style kiosk showing ancient cultural crossroads. Continue to Musawwarat es-Sufra — explore the Great Enclosure. Afternoon drive back to Khartoum.
Day 5: Confluence & Departure
Visit the confluence of the Blue Nile and White Nile — stand at the exact point where the two great rivers merge. Last-minute shopping for Sudanese crafts and silver jewelry. Transfer to Khartoum International Airport for departure.
