Day 1: Arrive Tashkent — Capital of Soviet Modernism

Arrive at Tashkent International Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon tour of Tashkent: visit Independence Square, Amir Timur Square with its impressive equestrian statue, and the Khast Imam Complex housing the world’s oldest Quran — the 7th-century Uthman Quran written on deerskin. Explore the stunning Tashkent Metro, where each station is an underground art gallery with mosaics, chandeliers, and marble columns. Welcome dinner featuring Uzbek plov, the national dish. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 2: Tashkent to Samarkand — Afrosiyab Bullet Train

Morning transfer to Tashkent station for the high-speed Afrosiyab train to Samarkand (2 hours). Arrive at the legendary crossroads of cultures on the Silk Road. Afternoon exploration of Registan Square — one of the world’s most magnificent public spaces with three colossal madrasahs: Ulugh Beg (15th century), Sher-Dor, and Tillya-Kori, their turquoise domes and intricate tile work glowing in the afternoon sun. Day 3: Samarkand — The Blue City

Full day exploring Samarkand. Visit the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, the final resting place of Amir Timur (Tamerlane), with its stunning fluted turquoise dome that inspired the Taj Mahal. Explore the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, once one of the Islamic world’s largest mosques, built by Timur’s Chinese wife. Afternoon at the Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis — a breathtaking avenue of turquoise-tiled mausoleums climbing a hillside, often called the most beautiful cemetery in the world. Day 4: Samarkand to Bukhara — Desert Crossing

Morning train journey across the Kyzylkum Desert to Bukhara (1.5 hours on Afrosiyab). Arrive in this 2,500-year-old city that feels like a living museum. Afternoon walking tour of the old city: Lyabi-Hauz (Around the Pool), a tranquil plaza centered on a 16th-century pond surrounded by mulberry trees and chaikhanas (tea houses). Day 6: Bukhara to Khiva — The Desert Road

Full-day drive across the Kyzylkum (Red Sand) Desert to Khiva (approximately 7 hours). The journey follows an ancient Silk Road caravan route. Stop at a desert chaikhana for tea and observe the stark beauty of the Central Asian desert. Arrive in Khiva in the late afternoon. Enter the Itchan Kala, the walled inner city — a perfectly preserved open-air museum that looks exactly as it did centuries ago. Evening walk along the ancient walls as the setting sun paints the mud-brick buildings golden. Overnight in Khiva.

Day 7: Khiva — The Museum City

Full day exploring Khiva’s Itchan Kala (UNESCO World Heritage). Visit the Kalta Minor Minaret — strikingly thick and beautifully tiled in turquoise, intended to be Central Asia’s tallest minaret but never completed. Explore the Kunya-Ark Citadel, the Juma Mosque with its forest of 213 wooden columns, the Tash Khauli Palace with its exquisite harem quarters, and the Islam Khoja Minaret — climb to the top for panoramic views. Day 8: Urgench Departure

Morning at leisure in Khiva — last chance to photograph the ancient streets in morning light. Transfer to Urgench International Airport (30 km from Khiva) for your departure flight.
